Personally think you should only be able to play one 'qualifying' event to get to the final. You nominate the course/event at the outset. You can still play other qualifiers but treat it just as a normal forum meet. Just my opinion.

I'm not fussed where in Scotland it is. Never played on the west coast so would be keen to give that a go. Wherever it ends up it'll be a long day out anyway. :)

I agree with this

Fair enough, but each regional qualifier had a £10 entry fee, iirc, which all went towards sending that regions representative to Hillside. The more that enter, the more money raised to help to pay for their digs, petrol and round.

Probably not such a big thing for the ones local to Hillside, but for the guys coming from 3-4 hours away, I'm sure it helped in their decision to still play.

Just my opinion, though.

If they pay £10 per qualifier i think its a good boost to the kitty for getting winners to the final etc.

Last time i think people just paid £10 to enter and that was it.

If it was, fair enough. £10 per regional qualifier fair?

We also did the NW over 2 dates, as it was very split in numbers, so not all could make the one date. This also swelled the coffers. Ok the course may play different the following day/week, but we all knew that in advance, so hey, ho.

I like the idea of using an Open somewhere as a qualifier. That way you'd get a CSS. Another group could use a different Open and utilise the new CSS for comparison.

The local misogynist's group may have an open on next year, you'll like that, Dan.

I think Birchy is on their mailing list, so we'll see.

I thought the finalists playing medal should have gone out last. It would allow they to take as much time as needed. The stableford lads could fly round then watch the big finish.

I appear to be getting a bit of stick today don't I? :D

I may be wrong, but I think even in the NW there are mixed Opens.. I'm not saying that I agree with them, but they are definitely there...;)
