I personally wouldn't travel to play in a medal
7/8 Stableford would be very workable IMO
Medal it is then

I think that if you travel three hours for a regional medal event, start with a 10 it might turn into a miserable day.I assume we will be playing in winter months again, so weather could be bad, so would be good to keep moving. Perhaps the final could be medal ?
3/4 handicap should filter out any chancers, and make it more attractive to lower handicaps. I think that is what Trilby Tour do, and high handicaps still seem to do ok. I am sure we have no bandits on the forum though.
We had a forum meet at Blackmoor a few years ago, 40 odd players and played 7/8 handicap. Best score was 36 points from memory, so that seemed to work ok, so worth considering as well.
so why not choose a summer month? #Justsayin![]()
People have plenty on at their own clubs
March, April, May are winter months to me.Would playing this in spring not be a better option? How about qualifiers in March and final in April? Or April and May?
Good chance of getting winter rates in March as well to keep the cost down.
Not so good, I should add that although I knew who I was playing with it wasn't necessarily a good thing, although Gaz is a nice fella
I think medal qualifier is fair enough just to filter out any chancers then 7/8ths Stableford for the final imo.
People travelling for the final wont need a week off then. It was a long day for me last year and I only live round the corner![]()

Oi, I was too busy keeping my level par gross going, at least for 15 holes anyway, after that I tailed off A LOT.![]()
To be fair mate you played some awesome stuff that day.
So who's going to Sail this Ship then?![]()
Dave, if it's early in the year then take it to the links. You'll get a good deal at Dundonald and people will travel for it, also in the area is Barassie, Glasgow Gailes and Western Gailes (possibly the best links on the west coast) who may just do you a deal (we had a plus 4's outing at Western on the same day as the KOK last year for £50).
I'd avoid the Dukes early in the year, it's a nice layout but will be no better than your average parkland course condition wise.[/QUOTE I agree the Dukes isn't great, but i like the sound of the other courses you mention.
I'll go with the flow regarding stroke or stableford, but prefer strokeplay. I think it should be forum members only , not as if its hard to join the forum and get involved is it .
Can you give us a liftWestern Gailes is only 20 mins from me, I vote for that![]()
Aye.
