In a mixed comp with different par and SSS it has to be based on par against sss, I can't see it work any other way, either that or no mixed scratch comps.

Gross 72 against SSS 74 is better than Gross 72 against SSS 72 ultimately.

But surely its the lowest Gross and par or SSS doesn't come into it as a pure result?

If you scored against par then the difference wouldn't enter into it. So if a woman and a man both shot level then the actual par for the course would be irrelevant.

As for the men's tees, if you gave the course enough notice I am sure they would build GMF tees further back than the blacks!

great idea!!

I'd be interested in this (date dependant) so long as it's a medal on a top course and there's a prize for last place.

Don't know to be honest, effectively men and women play a different course so for it to be fair something would have to give if SSS were different to par on mens and ladies. Like I said i dont think they have any comps like that anyway.

Which is true but if the SSS of the ladies was +1 to par and the mens was -1 to par then effectively the ladies course is tougher and im sure most ladies would have something to say even in a scratch comp. Only way to get it fair for everyone is a course where SSS and par are the same whether on mens or ladies tees.

I haven't clue dear boy and i imagine most championship courses the Mens an Ladies will be different and suspect that like my place the Ladies par is 2 or 3 higher than the Mens along with the SSS.

I would imagine it would be a very short course for these to be the same?

Could be a great end of season comp on a quality course, I'm in

if its scratch SSS is irrelevant but I think par should be considered.

I don't mean mens and ladies the same what i mean is mens and ladies par to SSS the same ie mens par 72 SSS 72, ladies par 70 SSS 70 if that makes sense. That way no advantage or disadvantage to either.

You miss my point, if a ladies SSS is higher to par than a mens would that in turn suggest the ladies course is tougher? If that is the case would you play a mixed scratch comp where men are perceived to play an easier course?

Anyway, doesn't affect me so i've given my reasoning, that'll do me for now

Yeah, full allowance stableford off yellow tees

Good man Gordon. I'll be able to try out the double size colostomy bag, if its 36 holes.

BTW, I see this as an additional comp, not an instead of the other GM Hillside thingy. I'll be playing in both...

You are a true forum legend Brian :D

(yes, not intended to steal any of Val's thunder)

Bri,
If it's 36 holes you would need a special pass out from the home, a chair, nurse, and portable oxygen tank on standby......;)

*in a mixture of a Benny Hill/Les Dawson type voice* Oooh missis, did someone mention nurse... nurse's uniform... wink wink nudge nudge.
