GM July issue - Sharpie pen, DVD etc

The free Sharpie is a great idea and will probably lead to people who dont I.D. their ball starting to do so.

I would like to see a free pitch mark repairer and perhaps a ball marker in future and as I have mentioned a couple of times before ... a bag tag
The Mrs. got me a subscription for my birthday early May and the lolly came out the bank but as yet NO mag and NO dvd. Any idea when it will arrive as I have nipped out and bought this months mag and if it arrives next week I have a doubler.

As for this weekend, I am painting and building units as well Mike. I really should be the ALPHA MALE in my house !!!!!!!!!
Great idea.GM FORUM bag tag.would look great on my bag. ;) ;)

Although I don't usually mark my golf balls, I will use the Sharpie. The DVD was excellent. Thank you for both of them. Whatever you decide to send as a freebie attachment is OK with me.

I always read GM from cover-to-cover as soon as I receive it. It's delivered in my wifes name because she subscibed as a present for me.

The pen was gratefully appreciated, thank you.

However, I guess only you will know if it was a success. Did it increase circulation ?

I agree the sharpie was an excellent gift and the DVD was interesting to view although I doubt it will get many plays. Like others I'd love a GM ball marker and a pitch repairer. There was talk way back about bag tags for forum members only (and a huge debate on how to qualify for one) but they would really make a statement about the forum but I think at the time the unit cost was prohibitive

The sharpie is great, its something thats handy, that I would, and indeed will, use.

The DVD was a good one too, but will those who need it view it?

The supliment was ok, but not something I need or look through with any great enthusiasm. There are so many such things out there.

Getting a nice pitch mark tool would be nice next?
Or a quality ball marker with a nice logo?
Or a DB9....ooops sorry!

All magazines send out bumph! it is expected, but the odd useable treat always goes down well. If you can always look into the little things, they can often count for a lot.
I was mighty impressed getting the pen and DVD for nothing.

Keep up the good work.

Sharpie a great idea, as madandra says don't know why you wouldn't mark ball. Agree with the comments about travel pages but obviuosly they have their 'value'. I usually keep the club supplements and refer to them before making any new purhases as it is nice to get honest feedback rather than just reading the companies blurb.
Any free gifts are good, best I can remember was the sleeve of Taylormades you could get a few years back.

Good extras this month but.......... the pen is in the wrong colour. :( I use a green one to mark my shamrock on my ball so a black shamrock just doesnt look right. Ah well cant have everything.

At least at the rate of balls I go through I get plenty of use a sharpie so there good value for money. Have mine in my bag for ages. At least 12months+

Pen was an ace git bit I use blue, however, it will come in handy at work. Keep up the good work especially the fantastic gear reviews!

I eco what everyone else has said about the gifts.

The freebies are a bonus. The quality of the read is what counts. I'm sure the majority would still but the mag with or without the gifts.

I do agree with Mad about the pitch mark repairer though, along with a card to explain to the uneducated/ignorant or just plain lazy "how to repair a pitch mark".

Ball marker would also be good.

Also a supplement on how to fill a card in for different formats.

The bag tag idea has been muted before and I think that if the forum members want this and GM could do the business, then why not just put them on the site with a charge for it?

I got the dvd in my mag :D
but no sharpie :(
Was looking forward to it as well , having just joined a club i was thinking it was about time i started marking my ball. Hey ho

i got it the other way round ! i got the pen but no dvd :)

Hi M1tch
are you are subscriber? The DVD only went in automatically subscriber copies as a bit of bonus for their loyalty. However everyone can get a copy for free - all you have to do is just follow the link to the R&A website http://www.randa.org/dvdoffer and put your details in and you'll get it sent through in due course

Thanks to everyone else for the feedback. I promise we will look very hard into costs and finding the money for the pitch mark repairer, ball marker and bag tags (wopnt be until 2010 as we have set the gifts for the rest of this year)
In terms of how successful it's been wont get final sales figures on this issue for another month so only then will I know. Fingers crossed!

Sharpie great idea--useful gift.

I have a number of pitchmark repairers and ball markers(Augusta Master ones thanks to GM).

How about a score card holder with GM logo on the front?.

I would like a card holder too, could you make it a kevlar one please, so I can carry it in my jacket, close to my heart, due to all the bandits in here :D
