Good morning forummers!
There are two "official" persimmon and blade opens this year being held at Fleetwood and Heysham Golf Clubs on the Lancashire coast, EXCELLENT value at £20 and £25 each respectively.
They are on consecutive days of Thursday 27th and Friday 28th July, there will be a mix of players from single figure to high 20s.
Are you interested? (Of course you are!)

For entry all you need is:
A set of wooden headed woods, (aminated maple or persimmon) just one will do!
A set of bladed irons dating pre-1990.
A simple design putter also pre-1990, mallets are allowed but no starships.

B&B accommodation in the area is cheap.
If you need help with permissible club clarification please ask, I can even loan a set of clubs if required.

Any questions please ask. :)

I am thinking about it at Fleetwood (my home club). Never hit such clubs before (being a "young" 50 something golfer who only started playing in my late 30's!).

Crow....you must know one of my usual playing partners at Fleetwood, Alan, as he is the local organiser. He has offered to loan me some clubs :)

Go for it, you've nothing to lose, unless you get hooked on old clubs in which case you'll be spending hours scanning eBay! ;)

Yes, I know Alan, saw him at Luffenham the other week, he has some fine clubs in his collection. :)

Now this is a thought…really fancy giving an outing to my Macgregor Eye-o-matics; Wilson Staff Fluid Feels, and Acushnet bullseye…

Will check our plans for late July.

Hi Chris, a mutual friend of ours may be going to this - Jay D from Liverpool.

He asked me about it last night, but sadly I'm on hols in Europe, but you may see Jay whilst you're up there.(y)

Unfortunately the Fleetwood event has been cancelled due to lack of entries, a smaller ad-hoc event on the same day may still go ahead, will keep you posted.

The Heysham event is still on. :)

Clashes with stuff at my club, unfortunately.

If I could get there and back at warp 7, I could play two comps in one day, perhaps.

I'm very happy to see this is attracting some interest, however.
