Global Warming my *rse!!!

gutted I am not playing Woburn but also knew we wouldnt get the weather like last years 20 degrees so slightly relieved aswell

Weather was great this time last year, we played Blairgowrie in short sleeves and had a good weekend at Machrihanish. A few baldys got sun burn.

Fed up, long weekend off and first singles come of the weekend - course highly likely to be closed all weekend as more snow due tonight and tomorrow here - global warming/climate change or whatever is a joke - going to look online about emigrating to a warm country and not too bankrupt!

Couldn't get my car out of my estate this morning in Huddersfield so doubt I'll be playing this weekend.

First weekend since joining a club too, need to get my three cards in for a handicap. Will by June before I do it at this rate.

I'm just back from 18 at Nairn This morning and though it didn't snow or have frost this morning its the coldest I've ever played in.
It was an easterly and the clubhouse weather gizzmo said the temp was 3 deg the wind chill factor was -5.

Sods law i switched to my tour bag and trolly today which didn't have the gloves or wool hat.

Played ok though and we are back on the full course today.

Meant to be playing at 12 tomorrow in our first comp of the year which I thought was last week. After finding out I was a week early for the comp I said "at least the course gets another week to dry".

Wouldnt ming if it was all out rain, the weather seems to be just about ok so my hopes are up then boom - course closed.

Wife is loving it - going to Wickes later for DIY bits to do if the golf is cancelled :)

Course closed earlier and now front 9 open but very soggy. More rain, sleet and snow due, No chance of a full 18 being open and doubt the front will survive either. Might risk it if only to get back out on the course.

Earlier in the week we only had 16 holes open. This morning is said closed due to snow on the greens, but then from about midday onwards it says all 18 open. Comp tomorrow, triffic.

My first winter up here and when that wind blows through the fens it just doesn't stop!

CK

just had an email, course closed until further notice, standing water and with snow forecast all comps cancelled.

Good cos its too bloody cold to even want to play tbh.
Closed near Stevenage ? Tell them that Bishop's Stortford was open, although it felt Arctic!

For those in the local area, is the weather going to affect the Woburn outing?

If it snows as much as it's supposed to there's a chance it may hang around coz the temperature's not getting much above freezing until further notice.
More chance that it'll be ok though....

got an e-mail to-day from the club sec. stating the captains drive in was still on for tomorrow but the course is closed due to the snow,so we are supposed to trudge out in the freezing cold watch him drive off then retreat back indoors for free pie, peas and a pint i'm glad i'm working, dont care much for this years captain anyway.

Hey its only a couple of years ago we had worse than this.

The castle stuart meet was a week later than now and we were all under snow and even the Gm lot couldn't fly due to the snow.

Hey at least we don't have all that stuff you southerners have at the moment, still cold though;)

Well it stopped in the end and we got out on time.....shotgun start...off the 10th on the Palmerston course......very handy playing in the same group as the organisers wife .....

Greens were pretty quick but unfortunately the fairways were a tad wet which made scoring difficult.

Very enjoyable but a very cold round and still better than being at work......
