Can anyone tell me a bit about Playsation Plus, and is it worth it?

Despite being in the middle of Cyberpunk 2077, I'm pretty addicted to GT7. I've gone through all the main cafe stuff, and so am now a bit more open ended as to what I do next. I did have a look at seeing if I could play online (albeit I'd get battered), but it seems I need a PS Plus account to do anything other than time trials. I've not committed to that yet, but I think there are 3 levels you can subscribe to.

I've considered subscribing, as it really isn't that much for an annual fee. But what else would it get me, what other games does it benefit?

Also considering getting No Mans Sky, as that seems to have decent reviews.
Online racing is good tbh. You do get muppets whose sole intention is to knock you off. I haven't raced online for a few months as I've done all the circuit races and all the Circuit Experience challenges to get easy credits.

Got the wheel and pedals and must say they should not be allowed to sell any racing sims without them 🙃

It’s such a different experience from driving on the controller, can’t believe I didn’t bother to buy it earlier. 😂

Looking to get back into some online gaming again as I have more time on my own now.

Tempted to give Helldiivers II a try.

I need a headset though as gave my old one away to a mate's son when his broke over Xmas.

Any recommendations for a reasonably priced one for PS5 (bonus if it works on my Series X as well). Not looking to spend a fortune but want one that will do a decent job.

I’ve been using a set of SteelSeries Arctis 1 wireless for a couple of years now, very comfy and great sound. Reviews said they have the same drivers as the more expensive Arctis 7 just a different headband and mic set up.

Wouldn't advise it, it's complete and utter garbage this year. Stopped playing it months ago and I'm someone that gets it every year and usually plays till June at least.

I won't be getting it next year.

I've got the 7's had them for years. Wanted to be wireless as my son had chewed through the cables on my last 2 sets. They aren't wireless anymore as the battery has long gone on them so I need them plugged in all the time but other than that they have been great. Also managed to avoid the hinge snapping off the earcup which seems to have happened to loads of people going by the Steelseries subreddit.

I like it more than the last FIFA. It just has some extra detail here or there in the game which just looks nicer.
But I can’t get my head around the training in this one.

I only play ultimate team and it was garbage this year. The push to buy packs from the store drove me over the edge, it's clear they care nothing about the gameplay. It's just become a card collecting casino with the odd game of terrible, delayed, laggy crap there are trying to pass as football.

I got FC24 and have just played Seasons so far. 4 out of every 5 games are against Real Madrid, so it gets it bit tedious. Defending against Vinicius and Rodrygo is quite difficult so every game finishes 4-3 or something high-scoring like that. I lost a few to begin with because I was trying to vary who I picked, and struggled defending, but now I only pick good teams and started playing 3-5-2 for the extra defensive bodies in the centre, and I've started to win a few games. Had some good results playing as England last night.

I opened Ultimate Team but it's a lot of years since I played that, and they've changed all the chemistry rules. I used to enjoy the team-building aspect and getting strong links for chemistry etc, and it looks like that has all gone now - you just need two from the same league or nation anywhere in the side to have chemistry. So I opened the free pack(s) they gave, but didn't bother playing any matches. UT used to be the most stressful version of Fifa anyway with people doing absolutely anything to win and the games weren't they fun, so I'll give it a miss and stick to playing against Real Madrid every game. 😆

Played a lot of football games when I was a kid, but stopped years ago. I got more into games with stories to be fair (e.g. Final Fantasy, Fallout, Skyrim), so I stopped playing games you could just dip in and out of.

But, I loved Pro Evolution Soccer back in the day, felt it was more realistic than FIFA in terms of ball mechanics. But, I bought one or 2 FIFAs over the last decade, played it once and was immediately bored. Not sure what would have to change for me to get absolutely hooked on football games again. The only game I play now that I can dip in and out of is GT7 on VR2. I couldn't play it on the TV screen, but at least with VR you are living every second of the experience. I very much doubt they'll ever be able to get a football game on VR. But if they could, that would be amazing. Sadly, I'd probably be too old by then pull my hamstring as soon as the game kicks off :)

Depends what era you're talking, but across the PS2 years, Pro Evo was by far the best game. They dominated it from around 2002 to 2008 really. Then when it went to PS3 they lost it again for some reason.

Football games are an odd breed though because of the yearly release schedule, I feel that Fifa peaked at around Fifa 12 or 13, ever since then they're just changing bits for the sake of changing it each year. Sometimes they make the game worse, sometimes a little better and so on. But if they ever make a perfect game they'll have nothing to change for the following year so what's the incentive to do that?? 😄

With us having the little one at home now I don't get lots of time to play - an hour and a half maybe once a week or once a fortnight. So I mainly play PGA 2k23 still, and now FC24 a little bit until I get bored of facing Real. If they ever make Borderlands 4 I'll definitely get that, but can't see anything else taking my fancy. I'm still on PS4 as well and no inclination to spend money on a PS5 - until they stop making games for PS4 I guess.

Everything in FC24 is geared to guiding you into FUT and from there everything is trying to guide you to the store to buy the not so micro transactions. Everything is geared to get you to buy points.

I’ve reached the end of the road with it, been playing FUT religiously since FIFA 13 and it just gets worse and worse. The vast majority of the community are hooked on packs and would throw their nan off the bus for a 100K pack.

Throw in their crap servers with massive input delay, all their mistakes from cards having wrong stats, wrong leagues, wrong countries etc. They even screwed up the pack weights at Team Of The Year and it meant you had about a 30% chance of getting Messi instead of the normal 0.00003% (just a guess they don’t actually publish the odds of getting a specific card) but only for the first 30 minutes of it being released. They soon fixed it and the lucky ones just got to keep the card that cost over 10 million on the market.

For those that don’t play, it probably cost about £60 for a million coins at the time from the illegal coin selling sites.

It's funny you say that as I have the exact opposite. I have 2 boys, 17 and 14, all they play is Fifa really. This year neither has asked for any money to buy points yet most previous years they have. In fact yesterday my youngest asked for some points and I said no as the season is finished and he was like, ok no worries.

As i don't play Fifa I have been assuming things were less directed at points due to them not asking. Just shows it's not easy to pigeon hole anything.
