Shadows affecting my swing.

I know this is going to sound very weird, but if the sun is at my back and I can see my shadow in front of me, most of the time I hit a poor tee shot my eyes get drawn to the shadow movement and it all goes wrong.
Has anyone else suffered with this and managed to work around it?
My mate Stu (Kraxx) always laughs when I trot out the excuse but it really is genuine

Sorry, couldn't resist.

A fair few years ago I seemed to struggle when in shorts! Suddenly became aware of where the knees were moving. It passed.
Perhaps you can find a range with the sun behind and just normalise it.

Yes, my shadow often causes me to screw up the tee shot.
Not been able to get over it yet.

Yup..it’s been an issue for me for years - though seems to have been less so this year - possibly down to me not caring what my swing looks like - as long as the ball does what I want it to do after I hit it.

I think it’s down to me thinking I know what my swing should look like and when I swing the club with sun on my back I want to check that my swing matches my perceived perfection - and I mess it up. Now I don’t care what my backswing looks like.

Have a real issue with 3-4 footers when putting through my shadow. Never seem to make them and sure its in my head now

You are not alone.
No issues with tee shots but I'm struggling to putt on sunny mornings with long shadows at the moment. The shadow of the putter in my peripheral vision somehow stops me being able to swing it in a straight line.

I guess once that 'worm' is in there it'll need shifted like any other (dunno how that's done tbh) but once its banished...

I routinely practice putting through my shadow so when it happens on course it isn't something I think over

I started doin it in practice from 2,3 and 4 feet so I didn't fear it as much. However a) no sign of the sun at the moment and b) on the course the same fragility is still there

You should be grateful you're playing in the sun....
Perhaps avoid playing when it's sunny, probably only miss a couple games during the year and problem solved

I noticed that my transition lenses were causing a shadow problem.
In the sun they go dark but if your shadow is across the line of putt or on the ball full shot it is incredibly dark as the lenses make everything darker.
Had real problems in Spain with this.
But can’t do without in bright sunlight.

I have transition lenses in my glasses and I hadn't thought about it that way. I need the transitions but wonder if I have a similar issue

I first noticed when searching for balls “ not mine “ in the trees .
In the shadows I was struggling to see properly

Yeah, the shadow problem is probably over now until next May-ish... optimistically speaking.
