Foresomes

Never play mixed foursomes with your wife. It will lead to a divorce! :(

There's a few couples at our club that pointedly don't play foursomes together.
Mr Mimms and I are unusual that we play our mixed comps together.

(Mind you, we nearly got divorced when he tried to teach me to ski1)

I've partnered my sister in mixed foresomes events. I find it hilarious to see the bitching and moaning by some husband and wife pairs.

I know of Skins, but what is "Chairman"?
You win a hole outright you're"in the chair" If you then win another while in the chair, you get a point. If you have a worse score on a hole than either of your two opponents, you're out of the chair. If nobody wins the hole outright when the chairman is ejected the chair remains empty until someone wins one outright again. No score games are common. A player with one point often wins.

Foursomes is a brilliant format. A superb test of golf and character.

A great idea posted above about making it a compulsory winter weekend format too.

As for those who don't like it, I feel sorry for you. You are missing out.

I've played a version where the Chairman stays until ejected by someone else winning a hole. Also known as 'the Perch' where 'Chairman' is 'on the Perch'?

Doesn't Muirfield only allow foursomes on certain days/ afternoons?

I think Gullane has the same sunday mornings?

Muirfield is really a '2-balls preferred' Club - well, that's the way my host explained it.

4-balls are allowed off the 10th in the morning, but strictly 2-balls in the afternoon (after Lunch).

hate texas scramble as well but enjoyed the greensomes we played this year although not our score

Hate Texas Scrambles as well - manufactured golf. American Greensomes is OK though for the winter months. Both tee off, then you take each others drives for the second shots, then you decide which ball to play, with alternate shots until holed.

May be tempted to give Ads749r a chance to re-educate me especially a greensomes format but not overly engaged but any alternate shot format. Never have been and not sure I ever will and still think Hawkeye has the right feeling about it all

Started playing foursomes last winter in the mixed comp, really enjoyed it. Won the the fouromes k/o this year in the mixed with the same partner. I find it more relaxing as I'm only playing every other ball.
