Ford Escort RS1600i.

This goes under the hammer tomorrow, I think it will be a large sum to buy this 400+bhp RS200 with just 5,510 miles!

My dream car. Had posters on my wall as a teenager and would just love to have a go... have toyed with having a fake one at times in my life too

Around 1992 I went to a best of British day at Mallory park. There was Caterhams, westfields, Robin hoods. Most based around the old Lotus 7. I went with a view to looking at Caterhams and had about 10 laps around the circuit as a passenger in a race prepared Caterham 7. Anyway, whilst I was there a guy was selling a RS200. The guy selling had taken his own mechanic, and the guy buying had his own mechanic. There was lots of discussion between the car being set up to drive for the new buyer.
The car looked gorgeous, it had a lot of people looking around it. It really was a thing of beauty.

Just got back from five days in Belgium/ Ypres. Anyway I did a few quizzes on the coach.
One question.
What is the dearest car ever sold/ bought. ?
I was surprised at the answer.

Isn’t it currently a Gull wing Merc?

I'm in the market for a Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth or an Escort RS Cosworth. Special cars and remind me of my youth reading AutoTrader and bugging my Dad to buy one.

Ironically, there's one listed currently.
1987, Black, 120,000 miles with long MOT.
Bidding ends on Monday evening and the current top bid is £35,805.

I like the idea of classic stuff from the 1980s being worth the same or more than brand new stuff.

Like my set of Ping Eye2 woods being worth £999 maybe...

But where would you put the golf clubs?

I garaged a 1964 Mini Cooper S for my son and ran it around the block once a week. What a bag of old spanners when you compare it to a modern car.

Sierra top bid was £42K but didn't make the reserve.
F40 top bid of £2.6M but didn't make reserve.
Enzo sold for £3,276,005!
