I wish I still had my original xr3. one of the non fuel injected versions. Bought it when I came back from the Falklands in1982. Sold it after a couple of years when I went on another ship.

I had an XR3i cabriolet...... for all of 5 minutes. Was nicked from outside my office about a week after I bought it, never saw it again, never owned another.

Someone sent me a video a while back of a crappy old Sierra Cosworth or something selling for 80 odd grand in an auction.
The car looked an absolute pile of ?, I guess it's one for the enthusiasts ?

Not surprising, Ford locks were never the hardest to get past.
I once owned a TVR Taimar. It had door locks from a Cortina, and all you needed to do was twist the slot - no actual key was required. You could lock & unlock it with a 2p piece.
A thing of beauty when I had one, when I look at it now I'm not so sure [Sunbeam Lotus]
My brother had one of those. It had a fabulous engine. As for the rest of it...

was it a military thing to buy hot hatches. Bro in law was stationed in Germany and the mk 1 Golf GTI came out.He bought one. Came out of the pub one night with a girl and half a dozen lads were stood around the car. He thought it was gonna kick off. All they were interested in was the car. Don’t know how many times he has told me how he and his pals used to race down the autobahn coming home. Emptying Jerry cans of cheap fuel Into the tank and dumping the cans in farmers fields.

It was common for lads in Germany to have hot hatches as we were buying them tax free and cheap fuel vouchers. I had a Capri 2L which was set up by Ford Sport followed by an XR3i and then a Cosworth.
It was more common for the Jerry cans to be dumped in a lay-by on the motorway just before Dunkirk

Talking to bro in law, he mentioned when he filled up from the Jerry can they would lob um over a hedge and you would hear
“ dunk” where the Jerry can hit numerous other dumped jerries ?

Hey, things have moved on a bit.
The bidding on this piece of art is, with a day to go, up to an eye watering £180,000.
This RS500 once broke the Mount Panorama lap record, with a time of 2 minutes 13.84 seconds - and hitting 180mph on the Conrod Straight.

The last sentence means absolutely nothing to me but it sounds impressive ?
