I wish I still had my original xr3. one of the non fuel injected versions. Bought it when I came back from the Falklands in1982. (I think I bought it in 1983). Sold it after a couple of years when I went on another ship.
Dug out an old photo. My pride and joy when I can back from the Falklands after the conflict. I was 19 when I bought it, the car was 2.5 years old and had all of the additional extras possible at the time. C757C2A0-CE18-4D38-995E-B2A222CE0582.jpegNot many of the originals still on the road when I last checked. I wish I still owned it, but probably went to the scrappers a long time ago. I wonder how much it would be worth.

Dream car. Ford had some mad hatches in the 80's and early 90's.

was it a forces thing where one comes back and buys something sporty. Bro in law came back from Germany in a lhd golf GTI. It was one of the first in the local area and had a lot of attention.

That's a really special car, the colour, the stripe sand all the fog lights. A few extra pints and a chauffeur home what a life

After spending 5 months at sea with no shore leave the money was burning a hole in my pocket.

It's creeping up.
FYI, if anyone bids within the last few moments, the auction will continue for at least two minutes.
It's now £56,500.

It last changed hands in 1991, not been taxed since 1994... Doesn't say its officially been scrapped though...

I had a 1975 mk2 escort 1600i in burnt orange with a brown vinyl sunroof, absolutely lovely car but I did get pinched in it doing well over a 100mph but the traffic cop was a car enthusiast and we agreed that I was only doing 90mph, thus I avoided a ban. I got the car by part exchanging a 1973 Jensen Healy in mimosa yellow with a black soft top, again a lovely car with the Lotus engine in it, I got pulled over twice in that purely because the copper wanted to look at/talk about the car, I let him have a drive in it while his mate and I tried to follow him in the police car ! I don't suppose that would happen today!

Happens to me a lot with the retired coppers I play with. They want to play a few shots with my 1960s or 1970s clubs.
I offer to sell them a set for the same price as a modern set - no takers!

OOI how do you know. Ave tried looking for VCL109S. Me first car. An mg midget.

Oooo a red one!

Last taxed in 2000... Not looking hopeful its alive any more!!

My mate built an app called Vehicle Smart, its pretty neat and you can save your own cars in there for service and MOT reminders etc.. Also good for a quick MOT check when a tosser parks in a cycle lane...
