Have you asked for the flag to be tended in the last year.

They drop if the flag's out. 😉
I genuinely don't think so, most of the time if it bounces out off the stick then it would have lipped out or gone over the hole at that speed. The difference is, hitting the stick leaves it a foot away for a tap-in instead of three or more feet away.

I'm sure you're not for convincing though. 😄

You're right. I'm not.
I know my game well enough.

25 foot out ? Take the 2 putt and move on. Low % even for elite tour pros

The question was, have you asked for it to be tended in the last year?
If you asked, “do you regularly ask for the flag to be tended?”, it might be a very different poll result.
It might be, but as that wasn't the question asked, we don't know.

"Have you asked for the flag to be attended in the last year"

"Im interested to know if anyone is still actually having the flag attended, no more, no less." said buger pete.

Ye gods. A simple question asking for a simple Yes or No answer. Absolutely no need to start arguing about the rights or wrongs. All you guys willie waving and feeding the troll. Guess who keeps the thread going ... Yep. The OP

As I pointed out in another thread and specifically noted in The Open, a large majority of putts were made with the flag out but several times that I saw, on some putts from a distance, then the pro had the flag attended. I'm not saying right or wrong but that was their choice based on their own (considerable) experience and of course with the prestige and money involved they would want to do what is right for them.

I tended the flag for someone at the weekend. They were first to putt anyway, I asked if they want it left in or out, he wanted it in for this putt but we would all have wanted it out from then. Tending it was technically just taking it out for everyone after he had hit it.

I can't remember the last time that I asked for the flagstick to be attended for me.
And I can't remember the last time someone asked me to attend the flagstick for them.

I never had a problem with either of the above.
I continue to have no problem with either of the above.

I've given a lot of consideration to how I might become irritated by flagstick attending. I simply can not imagine ever being so.

The compulsory leave-the-flag-in during covid restrictions convinced many players to have the flag out for putts after witnessing a few adverse effects.
That is my experience.

I voted "NO" to having asked for the flag to be tended in the last year. I would only ever ask for the flag to be attended.

This is basically what we do as well, if someone has a long putt, it's tended, then we remove it for everyone to finish up.

Sounds a bit random, be careful you don't cause a 2 shot penalty for your friend . We just leave it in till the first person has it out then it stays out. Less foot traffic too , not that makes much difference I guess.
