Have you asked for the flag to be tended in the last year.

It’s just about being sensible at the end of the day , no need to attend the flag until they are ready to putt and at that stage PP will be still and quiet
If asked I will attend the flag with good grace , but if someone is wanting it tended for the majority of putts as a few are suggesting some do it's hard to see that it would not impact a little on speed.

I think there will always be the single odd case that someone will be awkward regardless of what someone wants to do with the pin tbh

why dont you like putting with the flag in? Do you have it out for all putts where you can see the hole ?
I prefer the flag out when putting pretty much from any length. It plays with my mind too much left in.
Plus, I find it much, much easier to read the line from behind the hole with the flag out.
However, at times, if I trust the line, for putts over 25 foot I may occasionally ask for it to be attended. I've had too many from that distance hit and stay out.
That's just me though. In, out or attended, whatever people want is fine for me.

Yes , the poll shows most just get on with it as they understand that it's a massive waste of time and the rule changed means it's unnecessary.
But it's not unnecessary if that's how I would like to play my golf (see above post).
As for a massive waste of time, it won't be on every putt, so shouldn't be a problem.
And no matter how much you will want to argue this, you will not change my mind, so feel free to not bother trying.

Probably a couple of times for that mid range 10 footer type of putt.
At 10 feet? That doesn't seem like much at all. I was imagining maybe 50 feet when a slope means the hole isn't obvious. Can't see what you gain from 10 feet

Of course it's unnecessary. There's no longer a penalty for hitting the flag And it's a waste of time. That's the reasoning behind the rule change, that's the usga saying that, not me.

You hit them too hard. ;)

Read my post above the one quoted (as I pointed out) and you'll see that for me, sometimes, I believe it's necessary for me and my requirements.
You don't want to attend it for me, that's okay, but we're unlikely to play together again.
As for rule change, it just says no penalty, not no attending.
So I'll carry on, thanks.

Where did anyone say they won't do it? It's specifically mentions pace of play as the driver for change , you cant say no to attending as there are genuine reasons for it.

Haven’t studies shown that this in not necessarily the case?
Yes, and TBF once you get beyond 10 feet your chances of holing a putt drop rapidly , to a point where your more likely to 3 putt.

There are multiple studies with no definitive

I have seen putts hit the flag and bounce out that imo would have gone in

You are trying to get the ball into a small hole - putting something in the hole reduces the size of that hole
