Played 36 holes this weekend in diff 4- balls, nobody touched the flag all weekend
But if they had it wouldn't have changed anything

I still leave it in 90% of the time. But when I haven't holed any putts I take it out to try and change things up and see if it helps.

Always have the flag out when putting as for me the hole is bigger.Played my last 4 rounds and everyone took the flag.
And I missed an eagle putt many years ago with it hitting the pin and bouncing out about 10cm. Convinced if there was no flag it would have gone in.
Despite all of these there was a trial Ive seen where putts outside of 30 feet the pin should be left IN as if the ball its the flag something to do with gravity will pull the ball into the hole.
However closers putts the pin should always be removed as gravity is lower at a low speed and the ball will bounce out.

You'll have explain to me how the force of gravity varies with the speed of golf balls rolling on a putting green? (cause I don't believe it) (Maybe it's only a southern hemisphere thing?)

I think it depends on what kind of flagstick is used, I know that I've walked up to tap a short putt in and it has rebounded back to me....never again I said, but still do it. 
For me with flagstick out, how many times have you seen a ball travelling fast, hit the back of the cup go up in the air then drop in the hole, where if it hits a flagstick, they tend to rebound out, but to each their own.

Not my research. I’m just re quoting.
However a guy in my group yesterday absolutely thinned a wedge and it hit the flag and dropped from about 60 out.
The ball dropped to 50cms away.
If the flag wasn’t in, the ball would have been 50 away on the other side of the green.

Other than Phil Mickelson i don't know anyone who has the flag out from 60 yards away
