Finders keepers, loosers................

Every time i have played i have always found at least one ball! Today was typical, i lost two balls but found three, none of them were marked and all were different makes.
To be fair i am spending a reasonable amount of time trawling around in the "rough" so thats how i have come across them .

My question is " what should i do with them, are they now mine"? Some are expensive whilst others are cheaper balls, i am trying to find the "right" ball for myself at the moment, so i am trying different balls, but most of these are not on my list.

My attitude is that when I lose a ball I am leaving it for someone else to find and when he does, it's his.

What does annoy me however is people who pick up my balls on the practice ground. They are all well used but clearly marked Pro V1's. Not keen when the guy hitting next to me picks them up and generously leaves me his Donnays, Pinnacles and Topflites. Especially annoying when it's on the chipping green and someone just hoovers balls up at random with one of those tube things.

No of course you don't, neither do you need to tenuously try to wriggle out of your spelling error

I work on the principal that any balls I find are obviously faulty, as someone has hit them perfectly and the ball has decided to fly off in the wrong direction and hidden itself. I confirm this to myself when I hit one of these balls and it flys in the wrong direction, this proves me right and I leave it as an offering to the golf gods.

Shock horror I've actually kept the same ball all weekend. I found some today but they were all pinnacle or top flite. If you find a ball then claim it. It's not liek there is a lost and found at each club.

Sometimes you'll find gold like a Pro V and others will be rubbish like a donnay. On the subject of practice balls all mine have a red line marked on them and so they are very visible and I tend to only hit a tube at a time (the idea being to stop and pick them up and have a rest and a think rather than keep banging ball after ball). I've had cheeky gits try and pick them up too but they tend to only do it once after I've had words. Not like there are hundreds out there marked that way.

Every time I see a Wilson Staff ball in a bucket of used balls for sale in a pro shop I think 'that used to be mine'. They may be popular on here but I have never seen anyone else pull one out of their bag.

I figure, i'm going to start buying Ultra's and not Prov1's. Everytime I lose a V1, I find some rockhard super long x distance pro soft spin nugget instead of mine. If I buy the cheap, surely, i'll find the good ones?

I've got an arrangement with a playing partner who is off 26 and has been told by a pro that Pro V1's are not suitable for him. Consequently, he gives me any Pro V1's he finds and I give him any distance balls I find - preferably Srixon.

This seems to work very well.
