G1BB0
Money List Winner
Ok its not the longest (5800 off whites), its not right on my doorstep (only 11 mile tho), its not got a massive member list either (means no major waiting on tee's or groups behind).
What it does have is a decent variety of holes. Although layed out as 9 holes it has 2 sets of tee boxes which alter each hole enough to make the tee shot different with regards approach and club choice, also 1 has a seperate green and plays about 100yds longer. Some are wide open par 4's whereas 2 of the par 3's require accurate tee shots to guarded greens, some par 4's require a fairly accurate drive between tree's.
decent greens, whilst not the most demanding they run true and theres a couple with a nasty tier or 2
quite a few competitions running most weekends which suits me.
Very quiet in afternoons/evenings which I will be using through the week for 9 or 18 holes (with the 2 sets of tee's I can also mix it up if I want to practice certain approaches etc without doing a full 18 or a long walk between certain holes)
It enables me to get a handicap and learn the basics and hopefully get my handicap down a few strokes.
last but by no means least... its cheap
(price was a major factor unfortunately but I felt this had the best compromise overall)
also 2 of my friends are joining it as their 1st proper club also so even tho 1 plays off 11 (society h/c) the other is also off around 28 so a good benchmark ti see if I am improving and also to aim for with the 11 h/c
all in all a decent 1st club to develop my currently pants game whilst not being to punishing to deter me
