As the European golf tour travels to asia quite a lot and south africa ie out of Europe, should the tour be renamed to accommodate this?

I think it should be renamed other than 'european' there are a good few non European players and venues.

If yes what would you call it.?

I would agree. I think the European Tour is now past its sell by date. I am also of the opinion that a name change to something like "THE INTERNATIONAL TOUR" would attract more sponsorship and investment. I love watching the golf from Asia where the spectators are superb and you dont get idiots shouting and whooping at every shot.

I also think an amalgamation of the South African/Asian/Australasian Tours along with the European Tour makes sense and will mean year round golf hopefully supported by all major players.

I was thinking this, this morning watchin the indian masters. Wondered when they started using the euro instead of the rupee or whatever it is lol. But yeah maybe it should be renamed. International tour is a good shout.

Except I think the other Tours out there might get a bit peaky about the European Tour declaring they are the rest of the world.

You don't establish a quality brand and then rename it. You make the function fit your name; in this case, the 'European Tour' players happen to be playing in a 'European Tour' event in India/China/South Africa etc.

Not really that hard a concept to deal with though is it? No more ridiculous than the USA's 'World Series' of baseball is it?

i would keep it the euro tour.

Some of the players wont come to us so we will go to them or meet them half way so if they don't come they have no complaints.

I think it will bring more players off the asia tour etc together
more competition
more money and business for sponsors
And with a name like, world tour, Intercontinental tour, It sounds a Bigger event. Or as suggested above 'THE TOUR' I really like this one it will appeal to los americanos as well who might wanna join in If they think there good enough. Better players all together at the same time!

Agreed, by renaming the tour along the lines of 'The Global Tour' or 'The World Tour' it may finally drag some of the attention, sponsorship and prize money from the PGA. Perhaps the attraction of being crowned 'World Champion' may attract a few of the big names.

Couldnt call it a Global tour or World Tour as it doesnt include the states. If all tours were to merge then yes a world tour but I can almost guarentee that the USPGA would object to any of these names if they are not party to it.

If Tours were to mege then you could no longer call it the European Tour. Players like Jaidee, Sterne, Els, Scott, Gonzalez, Cabrera etc have all graced and enhanced our European Tour. If we are then going to encompass their Tours there has to be a name change and for me the most logical is the International Tour and in all honesty I can see it comming.

Think Monty was shouting about this last year if I'm not mistaken.

Why not call it a World Tour. The US have the World Series in baseball in which no other country competes.
