eBay seller payment

Surely not paying massive seller fees is worse?

I only ever sold when 80% off selling fees.

Don't like the idea of selling something, posting it off before I've received any money for the goods, then waiting 3 more days after it's been delivered to the buyer.
It's just not right, and no need for it.

If I was selling a £700 set of irons from my house, and somebody came to buy, there's no way I'd let them take them away from me, and let them pay me 7 or 8 days later.

Just to add, my big worry would be, if the tracking system/link between ebay and the courier services wasn't working correctly.
Which it often doesn't...
As I've had items delivered, a message off the buyer to say thanks etc, but still didn't show as delivered on the eBay tracking.
If this was to happen now, I'd be waiting 14 plus days for payment, poor system.

Do you not have protection as long as you use a tracked service?

no protection required, ebay has my money, in their big bank account.
Don't understand why an item delivered today that I posted, confirmed delivered on the ebay system, that I've got to wait til Saturday to get paid out on, doesn't sit right with me.

Just noticed an item I put on for £125 is for sale at £125.52p
So they have added 52p buyer protection fee without asking me.
They really are scrabbling about lately.

At the moment I have not had any problems selling stuff on eBay, not sent anything abroad though. The longest delay was waiting for eBay to confirm my account details.
My daughter uses Vinted a lot and swears by it.

I've stopped using eBay specifically because of the new payments process.

It's OK till it goes wrong. Has anyone ever tried to contact eBay over an issue? Worst service processes I've ever seen.

Not worth the aggro.

No idea how would even work now if something went wrong. I had issue before Xmas selling something, evri took over a month to pay out as lost (actually wasn't lost in end it appeared but they just paid out) but what if someone loses parcel? The buyer is out of pocket and the seller?

The buyer will never be out of pocket.
If buyer hasn't recieved item within the sellers advertised timescale, they can just open up dispute and ask for a refund.
Ebay will refund them, no question.
Seller has the issue, trying to claim back off courier
I'm currently going through this with royal mail, sent an item tracked 48, never arrived. Started a claim. Had to wait 10 days after it was due to arrive, then they respond, and now got to wait 30 days for them to investigate, royal mail is every bit as big of a joke as the likes of Evri.

What does Buyer Protection include?

With Buyer Protection, you benefit from:
  • 24/7 customer service: Get support around the clock if you need help.
  • Private sellers paid after delivery: When you purchase from a private seller, payment is sent after the order has been successfully delivered.
  • Secure transactions: All payments are encrypted end-to-end and handled by our trusted payments partners.
Learn more about Buyer Protection - opens in new window or tab.

You still benefit from free leading services like eBay Money Back Guarantee - opens in new window or tab, as well as Authenticity Guarantee - opens in new window or tab (for eligible items and categories).

How is the fee calculated?

When purchasing from UK-based private sellers, the Buyer Protection fee is calculated as:
  • A flat fee of up to £0.75 per item, and
  • 4% of the item price up to £300, and
  • 2% of any portion of the item price from £300 to £4,000
There is a cap on the total fee amount you'll ever pay. Any portion of the item price over £4,000 will not incur any additional fee. When purchasing multiple quantities within a listing, the flat fee up to £0.75 is only charged once.

Vinted add on a buyer protection fee, which I think is optional for the buyer I think.

I've sold mainly on Facebook recently. Cash on collection/handover. Limited audience relative to eBay, but all the nonsense mitigated.
I have sold quite a bit on eBay anything from a £20 Radiator last week to Missis Ts car which my son had blown the engine on. And FIL car and caravan. It’s good but there is a massive but. Eastern Europeans and idiots wasting your time.
Cash on collection is always best way. No I will not deliver to Luton as once asked. 🤬

Guys Ave sold something on eBay and I need to send the buyer an invoice. I have looked on eBay and it tells me to go to orders and from actions send invoice. But I am not getting a tab that says Actions. It is doing my trolley in looking for it. Any advice.

Ken that’s exactly what I have tried doing but there’s no actions tab. Oddly enough I did send an invoice last month but struggling now 😖👍

Ebay automatically sends an invoice to the buyer
I thought it did. 🤔 the purchase price is £100 the delivery was £7 as it weighs 3kg. The buyer has contacted me to say they have tried to pay but been unable to. EBay has told me they have contacted the buyer re paying.
