Anyone using eBay to sell stuff needs to be aware of this change coming up from Feb 4th
At the moment, funds become available to you about a day after the buyer pays. That is going to change dramatically
If you send your item via a tracked service your money will only be available 2 days AFTER delivery confirmation.....and if you send untracked or tracked but with no delivery confirmation it's 14 days from the order date.....
Not overly impressed but at least there are no fees unless you're a trader or flogging a vehicle..
Just thought people should know as I doubt they'll go out of their way to publicise it.

Thanks for that must have missed it.

This is still better than back in the days when you had to 'claim' the payment and request it was transferred to your bank account from PayPal.

Ebay seem to be moving to a model where you keep a balance on your account rather than withdrawing as soon as you can.

I bought something the other day, and when i got to the payment screen, it offered me a £2 discount if I used my ebay balance to pay. Trouble was, I had a zero balance, and there is no option to top-up.

Just had an email...
They're adding the fees that private sellers used to pay to the buying price....up to 4% plus 75p...businesses excluded....
So an item listed at 20 quid will have the £1.49 fee already added.
The seller has listed at £18.51 but the buyer pays 20.
Bemused.....

I did wonder how they were going to make any money once they got rid of seller fees.

So they changed their model to get popularity back in the market and now ? Oh great

I can't be bothered with eBay now days. My old phone I sent to cex just to save the faff of ebay after the wedge incident 😂

How much money is enough to make ..

That's exactly what they're doing. They've discouraged the automatic withdrawals and are happy for you to keep money in the balance. Adding discounts is a good way of helping and it does work! Good idea IMO.

Miles better than the old days when you had to withdraw via Paypal and then pay a monthly invoice. At least now any ad rate charges get taken off right away so there's never any invoice.

I think this new change with funds being available only after delivery is to do with making sure sellers use ebay's own delivery partners or outside tracking. This is a result of high levels of fraud from buyers who claim items never turn up. It's happened to me a lot in the last year or so and I've already made sure everything is tracked and details uploaded the day I post. One idiot claimed something hadn't arrived yet the tracking showed a picture of him receiving it at his front door! From previous experience, I knew from his name and location there might be an issue so thankfully paid extra on that item :ROFLMAO:

Guys when I emptied the attic I am selling some Wedgwood stuff, anyway a guy has contacted me from Australia and says he wants to bid, but I have to change the postage settings. It is doing my flippin head in trying to do it. Any ideas how it is done as the item finishes tomorrow.

Avoid like the plague.

As Spongebob says, avoid like the plague.
It's probably a scam, no doubt the items will "go missing" and the buyer will have the items and claim their money back.

Block them if that's possible, at the very least just ignore and delete their messages.

The thing is the postage is with Royal Mail tracked and is signed for at that end. Also Royal Mail do not guarantee the package will get there in one piece so as it is pottery, if it goes missing or is broken. That’s not my responsibility. I have told the buyer that and have an email copy sent to myself.

So you're just sticking your head in the sand?
Go ahead then, lose your money.

Asking for trouble in my opinion.

I have only ever sold within the UK, anything else isn’t worth the hassle.

I’m pretty sure you are responsible for the item until receipt, hence couriers offer insurance. If it’s lost or broken in transit, you have to file the insurance claim not the recipient.

I sell a few records now and again, occasionally those will go overseas. I always use fully tracked AND insured services, in a couple of instances I have had to use that insurance (one lost, one broken).

Well packaged and marked fragile it will probably get there ok. The remaining question is the integrity/intent of the buyer. eBay is shocking for sellers these days and you will probably find yourself either out of pocket or having to file insurance claims.

Caveat: if they say it hasn’t arrived and you file an insurance claim, this can sometimes throw up evidence that the seller is full of manure. Had this happen last year with a record sent to Poland. PayPal then sided with me after the evidence was raised.

Sign up to ebay's international shipping programme. You only post to the shipping agent (the buyer pays any additional postage cost).

Wherever it goes remember most shippers exclude damage to pottery or similar in their terms and conditions.

As an avid user of eBay, buying and selling
Gotta say, not a fan of the new system, and don't think I'll be using it (to sell) with the same frequency I've used it in the past
Sold a club Friday night.
Paid at weekend, so posted 1st thing Monday morning via parcelforce 48
Club was delivered today.
My funds are still pending until Saturday, 15th February
No thanks......

Will explore other avenues I think, for future selling

Hopefully a little drop in usage for them will prompt change

I mean they slashed final selling fees a few months back to get people selling again

Wonder how much they make holding onto money .. got to be some interest?

Surely not paying massive seller fees is worse?
