Now before I say anything I really like Dynamo's stuff, just unbelievable tricks/illusions, some of them are just mind blowing:thup:

I watched the top 10 as voted by viewers show 2 days ago and 2 in particular stood out... for the wrong reason:mmm:

1) On the basketball yard where he took a bunch of local guys basketball and squeezed it into an American football in front of their 'gobsmacked' and 'awsome' eyes- Camera cuts away before he starts it, then cuts back and the basketball had changed into a different shape not unlike a blown up American football

2) Billiard table with a UK actor, Dynamo shows him a pack of cards all completely mixed up with some cards face up, some face down, he holds the pack on the table and asked actor (cant remember his name) to think of a card and say it outloud, Dynamo spreads out the cards and now only one card is the wrong way up in the pack, the actors card:thup: - just as Dynamo is holding the pack and after he asked the actor what card, you see the pack position move ever so slightly as if the film was stopped, pack replaced and start filming again

so basically I'm thinking are all these street tricks and illusions he does full of people 'in on the trick'.......some of them are just so impossible and break the laws of physics they have to be, surely? The illusions/tricks are excellent but if its just camera tricks and people are all in on it then anyone, even me, could do it

Big Dynamo fan here aswell , & ive often asked how he does that and are all the people in on it .. i dont know the answer and if im honest maybe i dont want to know , he entertains me , i enjoy it . so hey

yes, and I feel/felt that way myself Blade, I know they are tricks and damn good ones and I love being entertained by it.

But seeing the obvious camera tricks dissapointed me, it does mean that in these instances both the 'audiences' were in on the trick. Half the fun of Dynamo is the audience reactions as that could be us seeing this.

Remember the famous footballer 'seeing' Dynamo walk through a shops pane of glass? the people on the inside and outside all oooo'd and ahhhh'd and footballer (Man U guy I think) went on about the amazing feat.


It reminds me now about David Blane, remember he used to do street levitation and people were screaming as it was so out there. Well they showed a few years later the cherry picker and wires and the 'other camera angle'.
On saying that there is a levitation illusion he did (which we can all do) to levitate about 2" off the ground, looks very good at parties if you get the angle right

Most of these guys are now entertainers rather than conjurers or magician. I cant warm to this guy at al, he comes across as an amateur lad trying too hard to impress. Derren Brown is another, everything on his shows are faked using actors.
David Moyes and AVB keeping their jobs at the end of the year, that now, I will be impressed with.

I stopped watching it after I saw a specific trick he did.

He was in a tattoo parlour and was talking to people about their tattoos.
He asked whether anyone had a tattoo they regretted or a tattoo that didn't quite turn out the way they wanted it to.
Up steps a woman with the worst acting skills I have seen since watching any film with Andie MacDowell in it, who has a tattoo of a woman on her shoulder.
She says 'I asked for both her eyes to be open but the guy made a mistake so the lady is always winking'
Dynamo then rubs the tattoo and manages to open the winking eye.

But you can see him rub the make up off her shoulder so you know it is just total nonsense.

Did anyone see the magician on Britain's got Talent? The guy that poured candle wax over his eyes before slicing fruit with a samurai sword?

His second act was naff. He shot an arrow through an apple, which had Amanda Holden's wedding ring in it, before hitting a bull's eye on a stationary target. But you could see that he hid the arrow in his hand up his sleeve and that an arrow popped out of the bull's eye from a hidden compartment. Pretty naff and unfortunately it just doesn't do it for me.

Of course it's a big hoax, very entertaining, but you physically can't do some of the stuff he does without camera trickery. The reaction of the people involved seems genuine which all adds the the show but that's all it is, a show.
