Do you go to the range to work on anything specific, drills your pro has passed on during a lesson or just smash balls as far as you can?. Do you work on your whole game ,short game ,putting?
varies sometimes its just to whack some balls normal if had a week or two off other times after lessons or a poor round with a particular club its then specific practice.
Like to work on things. Start wth the PW and work up to the driver. Use my set up routine before each shot as well. Having said that on the odd time I have been strung up I have wacked balls as hard as I can
Bit of everything, although not so much shorter pitches, as hitting off mats does not replicate the sensation of hitting off turf to develop these kinds of feel shots.
If I'm honest, the time would be far better spent on the putting green.
I have a tried and tested routine when at the range to try and prepare myself for being on the course.
Hit some 100 yard wedge shots at a target.
Then find something at around 160-170 yards to hit some 8/7 irons
Then something at around 190-200 to hit some 4/5 irons
Then find 2 targets about 20-30 yards apart and hit my driver through them to simulate a tight fairway.
Then I will hit some pitch shots with my wedge to something at about 50 yards away.
Now I simulate playing some holes. I will hit my driver then take an iron out and hit at the targets I was aiming for earlier.
Any balls I have left then I wind up the big bat and smash them out of the end of the range for a laugh.
