Dr Who 50th

I agree with that. Also interesting to see how an older Doctor goes down with the younger viewers. The recent selections have certainly seemed more geared to a younger audience.

You might be right - perhaps that is why I tuned out when Matt Smith took over - the story lines seemed to get very childish for a while.

I enjoyed the episode on Saturday - especially some of the humour, and will watch the first few of the new series to see where it is headed - fingers crossed.

Although I think the more recent efforts for the story writing and production deserve a lot a credit, I do think that for what should be a children's programme, it's getting a bit too complex. I had to pause the viewing a few times to explain to my 10 year old (Dr Who fan) daughter what was going on.

I'd argue it isn't really a children's program as if it was it would be on CBBC if the children were under 10 or on BBC3 if they were aiming at teenagers. It's more family entertainment as that's the motherlode for Saturday night TV, much as Strictly is and I suppose as the X Factor is, if the family in questions regards shell suits as the pinnacle of fashion.

Then again some of the 'childrens' programs on CBBC are some of the best out there. I'd challenge anyone to find a better and funnier animation that Shaun the Sheep, and Horrible Histories is much better than most comedies on the bigger channels. Plus you learn something. Bonus.

Thought it was pretty good - though a bit convoluted (which is OK is that is time and space travel after all) and a bit contrived (less good). But I enjoyed the humour and Hurt was good. Didn't quite sort our what Rose was supposed to be doing - but I watched rather than tried to understand too deeply.

I liked the idea that aliens could be present in a painting from the past in the guise/form of the real subject being painted - then use that painting as a portal to the future by 'extracting themselves from the painting.

Rose wasn't there, it was the sentient consciousness of the Bomb that took on a form that the Dr would relate to- however, that Dr hadn't met Rose yet....or had he:mmm:

The paradox of time

Absolutely - but we knew it was Rose...:) Maybe I missed something when she was the Dr's girl - I suppose she was a bit of a blond bomb shell (oops - sorry) so it kinda fitted.

Time simply being a human construct required by the dynamics theorists to explain motion of anything - so time may not be all real in any case - it may be in part imaginary - so a complex construct.
