Does the BBC get it?

I think one of the things this thread highlights is that everyone wants something different from the coverage they watch and from the commentary that is associated with that coverage. I have played golf for over thirty years I don't need some guy who once made a cut in the Madeira open telling me that Adam Scott is faced with a tough shot because I can see it. I love listening to Peter Allis for all his stories and extra bits that he adds Ken on the course is really good because he gives you a golfers view of the course.

Sky coverage for me is just weird all those simulators and golf coach's WTF is that all about why do we need it and why not show some actual golf shots all they seem to show is putting when it shows anything at all between adverts every couple of minutes. The only good thing with the Sky coverage is Sir Nick proper golf stories from a guy who has been there done it and done it again and again.

Andrew Cotter has just claimed his finest viewing moment of the open was a shot played by some guy at Turnberry in 1977... Cotter would of been 4 years old.

It seem seem that there's a fashion between the commentators to spout sentimental crap at every opportunity and Alliss has been the ringmaster for years.

To much droning on about absolute nonsense. Get Wayne Riley in there,he'll liven it up

Also that well known supreme ball striker Clare Balding on 5live. No Thanks !! Utter Garbage.

BBC commentator perplexed by Adam Scott taking his jumper off. Making Mark Roe and Simon Holmes look like co-founders of Mensa at the moment.

Can't be bothered to read the whole thread but has it been mentioned that the BBC never seem to show replays?

When Sergio holed in from 200 odd yards they did not show a replay straight after. Then 5 minutes later they said 'for those who missed it here it is' and then showed it from a camera 20 odd yards behind Sergio, so all you could see was Sergio and his reaction, with no sight of the ball whatsoever. Weird. It's as if they have not got the broadcast rights to show replays.

Have seen it being shown a couple of times - but it is on the website to watch

It has been shown from several angles throughout transmission

Im happy just watching the golf.
Having no Sky its great when its on terrestrial TV.
I have enjoyed the coverage,of course it could be better but im pleased
to be watching.
One thing I did notice yesterday when Tiger had to get up and down to
stay in the tournament the camera stayed on him the whole time from
him walking to his ball to him holing out.
Even while one of his playing partners was playing a shot, its like they are obsessed
and afraid to go off him for some reason.

To be fair Tiger making the cut is a noteworthy story, and towards the end of the day the amount of golf was dwindling. You can say the same about any number of golfers that were shown walking around, looking for their ball, chatting to their caddy etc etc. Just people pick up on it when it's Tiger.

On a side note, thank goodness Faldo missed the cut and can now provide some actual insight on the BBC!
