Its the night before The Open and the BBC preview show is on at 11.20pm! 5 Live have a brilliant programme running right now but that's radio. The BBC currently have the rights to one of the Global events in sports. If this is all the commitment they can show..............come 2016 it's going to SKY,!!

Is there a bit of a wind up here the BBC are showing 22 hours of live golf over the next two days alone, do Sky even do a preview show, and just Sky plus it.

And there is no Ewan Murray, fantastic

Totally agree was looking forward/expecting some sort of build up/ preview to whet the appetite but just feel a bit let down.

Come tomorrow, there is uninterrupted live coverage from 9am with a choice of HD and 4 red button streams for free spanning over 40hours in total (48 hours on two radio stations) including exclusive behind the scenes interviews and social media interaction.
Did I say for free too? (license fee alone is worth this)
I think the BBC get it - anyone who complains clearly doesn't.

I don't want The Open to go to those greedy edit at Sky, with their extortionate subscription fees, hours of adverts and talking heads, and Ewen Murray. Keep at least some golf on terrestrial TV! :angry:

Agreed 100% golf on the beeb is just a lot better than golf on Sky

I do like it on the Beeb as reminds me of my youth watching Mr Faldo et al. I also like Peter Alliss!!!!

I find this totally incredible that the BBC squeeze in the preview show at 11.20pm, they have the rights to the greatest golt tournament in the world and put on the preview show when everybodys gone to bed!! The BBC'S obsessed with Athletics and give prime time to dire little athletics events but then dont milk a proper sporting event.I cant wait for sky to take the Open over, i'd rather pay and get proper coverage.

Can't believe people are complaining about a "preview" show - what exactly did you want to see in the preview ?!

From tomorrow there is 22 hours solid coverage with no advert breaks - totally uninterrupted coverage that you don't get on sky !

The BBC can't afford to pay the fees required for most of the BBC - the BBC has to cover for everyone in the country , it can't dedicate channels.

What exactly is a "proper run up" ?!

Sky have never shown 11 hours straight coverage with no adverts - 11 hours straight

I'm not complaining about the live coverage, but a run up programme at a reasonable hour as Sky do for their major coverage would be nice.Some people dont have the benefit of Sky and the Open is the only golf they get to see, dont you think those licence payers deserve a run up programme at a more reasonable hour?.
