Dodgy Masters Coverage

Almost certainly the footage supplied. I guess the "magic moments" and "random memories" are all in place of the adverts.

MWJ: Nope, don't think it's you - it is disjointed & annoying. But, I think the feed from the americans does have a lot of advert breaks. There's some shots I'm already tired of seeing because they show them as filler...

I reckon its down to the yanks personally. It is the same when you watch the Indy 500, they have ad breaks every 5 laps or so and you end up with silly links all the time.

Enjoying the golf though, dreaming of one day playing that fine, fine golf course.

Just how long is the course??? :(......just visited the website.

Yardage 455 575 350 240 455 180 450 570 460 495 505 155 510 440 530 170 440 465 Total 7,445

I'm surprised anyone's scoring....... :p

(a bit of a hijack, sorry, didn't want to start a thread).

only 1 ok to listen to is Brown, alliss getting worse with age, grady bland and as for big ears...dear me.No ooomph to the coverage unlike when Sky cover events, all in all very amatuerish.

Indeed, when there are sudden or frequent breaks in coverage, you need an professional and charismatic anchorman to fill the gaps and Lineker is not it.

Watching the Masters in my house is a very tricky past-time. When I mentioned earlier in the week that it was coming on HID groaned " that means he'll be banging on about the azaleas again...." And after he'd mentioned how fast the greens were for the umpteenth time she damn near threatened to kick in the screen. Fortunately she changed her mind & went to bed instead, leaving me to the golf (& the forum...)

BBC is winding me up as soon asa you see a couple of shots its back to boring lineker talking numpty nonsense.

the coverage is shite whether its bbc fault or americans fault,

If its down to Money Sack Lineker let Ken brown host the show and spend linekers vast wages and expenses on better coverage cos to be honest its not good enough,

spend My TV License money on something decent!!

The coverage was weak and tedious, and this is only day one.
I went back to the live feed from Amen Corner but then you suffer resolution problems if you actually want to see anything.

After all the hype this is truly disappointing.

The live feed from Amen Corner appeared to be studiously ignoring anyone who wasn't American where possible, so that got turned off within the hour.

The BBC coverage, regardless of the host boradcaster excuse, was bloody awful. No rhythm, no feel, no sense.

And I'd forgotten just how sycophantic they were with regards to Mr Woods. Honestly, Sam Torrance on Woods makes Clive Tyldesly on Man Utd '99 sound like Steve Wright...on prozac.

At least Alliss had the balls to argue the point of Torrance on 'Woods played beautifully for 12 holes' and then proceed to show a series of poor shots and scrambling. If he couldn't chip and putt like a man possessed, he would often shoot big scores. If you listen to Torrance, you must wonder why Woods bothers to even use the bridges to get over the water...

I found the amen corner footage better than the bbc coverage as it was constant rather than mr linneker coming out with half assed retorts followed by a 5 sec pause before Wayne Grady steps in and rescued the conversation.

I think for me what is missing the most is a man on the fairways a la Howard Clarke,Wayne Riley or Tim Barter now I dont know if this is forbidden by the Masters but it is something that is badly needed to make the viewing more informative as all the BBC guys seem to be doing is simply relaying what is happening without a '178 to the front 189 to the pin this is a comfortable 6 iron for him'
The BBCi coverage was woeful,I am guessing that Clampett and the other fella whos name escapes me were not in fact commentating for the BBC but on behalf of all taking the live feed but they were bloody awful to listen to and the lack of scores being shown as players played and the lack of leadeboard was dreadful....I mean at 1 point they showed a leaderboard showing Poulter having played 11 holes when half an hour prior they had shown him putting out on 13!!!

I don't think the BBC cover golf often enough to spend more time on the quality of the broadcast. It's fair to say the feed they get is somewhat sketchy and the producers fill in the blanks, as it were; but you can't watch this level of golf without wondering why no-one, except good old Ken Brown, is enthusing over it. Aliss sounds tired, Lineker is still in the 6yd box waiting for the ball and Torrance is missing the golfing channel. I can't help think Sky would do a better job if given the opportunity.

Think this is a bit of both - they can't influence the live feed (who can!!) but they choose the presenters who have to live within the constraints placed upon them by the feed. Lineker is about as exciting as a cooming downstairs on saturday morning after a week at work to find yourself confronted by a bowl of bran for breakfast when you'd been expecteing a full english. Monotone and ill-informed about golf are the kindest things I can say.

Also, while watching the Amen Corner feed, they kept up with @Tiger will be through here in a few minutes' every 30 seconds - get a grip and show the golf.

Indeed, when there are sudden or frequent breaks in coverage, you need an professional and charismatic anchorman to fill the gaps and Lineker is not it.
Agreed. He's bad enough on football, why the Beeb thought they couldn;t find someone better is beyond me?

The coverage was very poor though, and that side of it is down to the yanks.

Got to agree, didn;t turn it off, but it was horrendous.

* Could Clampett be more dull
* Did they even know any of the non-Americans?
* It was conspicuous however that Jeev and the other two invitees got very good coverage - funny that?
* The worst however was the Donald/Johnson group. They spent forever watching and waiting for Zack to play, and then once he hit, Donlad steps on the tee, at which point we get a pop-up on Tiger's doings, and cut back for the third player in the group, completely missing Donald's tee shot, this the guy who was 3 under after 6, and still one under at this point.

A very poor effort, and incredibly partisan.

It was a poor show last night, if they took the camera off Tiger for a minute they might realise that other golfers are playing. How many reruns of Tiger compared to Mickelson's chip from the crowd which was far better than anything except Poulters hole in one.

It was poor showing as I would of liked to of seen Poulter on the course rather than reruns of him, it was like they where just planning the show around Tiger.
