Right so it was well over a week ago now that I took part in the pro-am however i've not really had a chance to get on here.

Anyway the day went really well, it was a great experience and some lovely grub after.

I really felt like i was in a pro tournament when we arrived, 10's of golfers around the practise green and driving nets, a couple of officials walking about in suits.... I was buzzing.

I've got to say for once I really wasn't that nervous on the first tee, just excited. I then skied my first tee shot about 80yds... just clearing the water. Now I dont like wishing other golfers bad luck but I did feel better when the apposing amateur playing off 20 pulled his drive left in to the tree's putting him shorter and in more trouble than me.

Anyway I hit a solid 6 iron leaving me about 40yds short off the green and ended up walking off the 1st with a 6.

I became more confident after 5 or so holes and as my pro had a pretty poor start we both just relaxed started talking about the beers we were looking forward to after and ended up playing some pretty decent stuff (i par'd the 6th and 7th) with the odd bad hole each.

Any way, we scored 40 pts with our best pts from each hole and i contributed on 7 holes.

Thoroughly good day and I now cant wait till the next one.

Well done mate, Sounds as though you had a really good day plus you didn't let yourself down. Where did you play again ? Who was your partner?
What would you say that you learnt from the day ?

Cheers

Midnight...

It was at the old cambridge moat house course, now owned by the menzies hotel group, we literally played every inch of the course the white markers were right at the back of each tee.

My partner was the pro from my golfer, he shot 7 over par, the winning pro shot 3 under, he was the only one to shoot under par.

I learnt a good few things from the day, mainly to have faith in my ability, and also not to take my shot till i'm ready. The pro's were taking time over each shot, i just pretty much hit the little fella without too much thought, i'll definitely be taking more time in the next one.

How come you were there? I love the idea of 'the next one', I haven't even played in one. Invited? corporate? auctioned? won? Bought? Spill the beans.

Well done minty, I'm pleased for you, Ive known people do those comps and walk away after, never wanting to do it again, a good experience is well worth it.

I was invited by the pro at my golf club, i'm quiet friendly with all 3 pro's at our club and they've said they want to play in as many as possible this year so i'll definitely get another go.

Plus our club is hosting one early next year so i'll do my best to play in that although i'm sure alot of our members will want to and the pro's have to share it about apparently.

A great experience, although it is a bit scary how good these pro's are yet they are not making any decent money out of the game.
