Darts

We have a Mission Torus 270 light, it has an open bottom section to make it easier for shorter people (the wife) to retrieve darts as it doesn’t block access. The light is brilliant and casts no shadows on the board.

If you’re tall then the Torus 360 would also be a good light and decent prices too.

We’ve got a smartboard which is great for interactive games getting everyone involved. But you can also play traditional 501 games with the auto scoring.

As above, you can get the Omni or Scolia systems but they are expensive and in some cases have subscriptions.

Just got battered by a bot. Couldn't get my nephew so tried that. Enjoyable though and quick.
As far as lights go i think I'll get a top down one. For some reasons those rings make me feel claustrophobic. Probably get used to it.
My mates got a great set up. Full lights and auto scoring. Does make it handier when you get the business end of things.

I think that’s where the 270 light works well, it’s not a complete ring so you can walk in and out to the board without feeling like you’re “reaching in” the get the darts.

I had a look at it there. Certainly an option.
The light will make a difference. Even though I have decent lighting in the garage there is times im not sure if its in the treble or not.

Impressed with the blade 6 board. I used to play on holidays on a old board with thick wires that used to reject darts regularly.

The light does make playing much better. Board is much more vibrant and clear.

I’ve got a Mission Samurai II board as my general messing about board, don’t want to annihilate the smartboard too quickly.

The Mission board is great for the price and the colours are really bright. The Blade 6 used to be the old tournament standard before Target took over I believe.

Cant complain with the board. I got two sets of darts with it. They are pretty poor tbh. They feel really slippy in my hands. The cold of the garage doesn't help id say.

Really want to try differnt dart types. Bound to be a configuration that I'll love. Grippy darts is the first thing I'll look into. The weight is another thing that I'll need to investigate.

Have a look to see if any dart specialist retailers are local. We’ve got a couple near us that allow you to try before you buy. Weight and grips will be on preference. But then you have many other configurations to think about. Shafts, points, flights (whether traditional or something like k-flex etc etc). Quite a lot of similarities with golf in that respect.

I have a Target full circle light. It does feel like it makes a difference - whether it does or not I’m unsure.

Got our stuff from Darts Corner, they were really helpful. Ended up with mid range Designa darts (25g) with “Tweenie” stems and 100 micron flights. Got what’s called a “tuning kit” which has stems and flights to swap about.

The PDC used to use Unicorn boards but switched to Blade 6 a good few years back. The WDF tournaments use Target boards.
