Darts

I haven't seen much of tonight's game but last night the Dutch lad was hitting doubles for fun. Tonight he's a different player. Is that pressure of the final, Littler, don't know. No disgrace though.

Littler is a special dart player. Just the same as Tiger was at golf in his prime. Untouchable. He is just too good when the pressure is on.

As soon as it’s the longer matches, just can’t see who can beat him.

Remember Littler lost the final against Humphries two years ago, he was close to winning that match. Could have won every match he’s played at the Worlds

I think it’s a bit of both. Before this year Van Veen had never won a game at Ally Pally, so wasn’t a good tournament for him. Littler has just been unplayable tonight though

He's so good that he's almost spoilt the final!
I love him, great for darts, as a whole, but there's no-one anywhere near him right now.

He's on £2.7m as world no.1, no.2 on £1.1m. He could sit in the house all year and still be no.1 come next year's WC's...

He is gonna win an absolute ton of tournaments this season, what a player!!

Why would you think this, nothing I watched in this tournament made any of our family think he would lose.
I didn’t want him to lose. When I have seen him lose before it’s not been his scoring,it has been not hitting his out shots. As we saw in the 1st set. With the way Van Veen dispatched Humphries and his win against Anderson I thought if he got 3-1 or 4-2 littler may have got riled and then would start to miss the out shots and let Van Veen in. As it turned out, Littler played outstanding and did not give Van Veen a look in.

To be fair, Van Veen was stunning in the semis, he was hitting checkouts for fun. Had he kept that form going he had a genuine chance in the final. It was less a case of Littler losing in that case but VV winning. As it ended up, Littler just over powered him.

Most top players can match Littler for short periods but he plays at a higher level more consistently than the others.
Whether he can keep it going for a number of years remains to be seen or if the others can raise their games.
