Darts

Just a thought...

In today's modern age, is there any other top class sport where the score is hand written on bits of paper by people standing next to the players counting?

Oh, apart from golf :ROFLMAO:

But golf has maybe 156, or 288 in big amateur tournaments, competing so that's different, but just 2 players on stage and 2 people writing down the scores, manually working them out, and then tearing off bits of paper...What do they even do with the scoresheets?
I wondered that too. I guess it's in case they have any queries players , they can go back quickly

Cricket still uses manual scorebooks. Absolute works of art at decent levels, even some club ones if you get the right person. Old habits die hard in some sports.

So much for the mind games not working...🤭🤭

Humphries blinked first in set 4, and Wright buried him in set 5 with a 115 set average. Turns out he was right, he can still play.

Certainly was.

Littler managed to hit the doubles at the end when he needed them but Joyce played great throughout, hope to see much more of him on TV next season. Seems a decent bloke as well as a terrific player.

Luke pushed all the way there, cracking game.
Luke just managed to produce something when needed.
Still think the tournament is wide open, such is the standard these days.

I'm watching this in batches. None of the big names look in great form, all very patchy. Nathan Aspinall has looked the best, to me. What do darts aficionados think at this point?

You would think it would be between Michael Van Gerwen and Luke Littler.
MVG has the experience and should be better over the longer format now.
Luke has been in great form all year, but still really young with huge expectations on his shoulders, which in it self can have an adverse affect.
Peter Wright and Stephen Bunting have looked decent as well.
So what I'm trying to say is, I haven't got a clue who will win it 😂 😂

Wright vs Bunting could go either way, but with the edge to Wright. If he does win, could be 3 WC's plus Littler in the semis as I think MVG and Price will both make the SF's as well.

But anyone could win tbh as Littler isn't Taylor yet, everyone is very closely matched performance wise.
