Conway Golf Club - Anyone Played?

Not quite in the middle of no where, but nice area and have not actually played the course yet but have been on the course many times - so here we go off topic.

My father was born in a terraced house at the start of the road down to the golf course by the old gas works - his grandfather worked for the gas company and it was the last gas lit house in the town and he held out not to convert to electricity to the very end.

The marina development and all the houses there have made it far more built up than it was but when I was a kid we used to go down to the Morfa as it is called and if not on the beach or catching grasshoppers etc it was picking blackberries on the golf course.

Ah happy days all a long time ago .......

I also watched the vlog and Conwy looks well worth a visit to play, be an excuse to get out of the house on my next visit to my mother.

Thanks, nice one.

Oh and I think Cat 1 = White trousers that's always been my impression.

So pleased your a pro.....
And how much of your spiel relates to the original question?......oh thats right, one word "no"
Harsh comments from out of the sand!!
I have played Conway many times,it was a regular venue for our winter league day out.
I think it is a fine course with many challenges.
The club is friendly to visitors and good catering.
Hope you enjoy your visit and are lucky with the weather.

Same here and going back in April with our winter league. It's not in the middle of nowhere and is quite easy to get to. There will be plenty of accommodation near by as its on a popular route. And there are other good courses to play near by.

Quality track and great test, especially in prevailing Westerly wind.
Used to be Open qualifier and hosted some top level comps.
Awesome views of the estuary, sea, Anglesey, Great Orme, and Conwy mountains.
We have a house overlooking the course from Deganwy, hoping to move back and rejoin soon...

Hi all,

Rick and Pete have just released a set of course blogs from Conway Golf Club in North Wales and something about the place just made me really want to go and play. It it so beautiful and seemed to be in the middle of know where with big Welsh hills all along one side and beach down the other. I did not harm that it seemed to be flat clam on the day of filing for the most part.

Has anyone played it? Is it any good as a course? Any local hotels? (4 hrs each way for me).

I have never played lynx golf as it looks dull but I would love to go and play here!

Anyone else think it looked special?

Alex. Happily take you round as my guest

Dropbox me a PM and can help arrange something.

It is a quality links course and hosted final qualifying for the 2006 Open. The course is always in tip top condition but beware if you are playing later in the day in Winter, Autumn and Spring if it is a sunny day because as soon as the sun drops behind Conwy mountain the temp drops about ten degrees. For those wanting to make a day of it pay a visit to Conwy itself as there are plenty of good old fashioned pubs to chose from, many selling a choice of real ales.

Saw the same videos as the OP and it looks amazing. Somewhere I definitely want to play and soon. Might see if I can persuade HID to enjoy a short break and she can go sightseeing while I play. What could possibly go wrong when I suggest that?

You could get booted in the unmentionables??

Let me know how you get on...

Better than Maesdu and N Wales and a good course.

I'd suggest playing it if in the area or on a mini-tour, but not necessarily for a 4 hour journey there and back, as its good, but not mind-blowing. It does finish with a few tight parkland type holes, which is unusual and slightly adds to it.

Buy loads of extra toast on Huds account - his face is a picture.
