Have to laugh at some of the prizes handed out at my golf club the last year or so..

Only a few weeks ago 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes where all cream lamps.. and the mate came 4th and got 35 quid to spend in the pro shop not sure what the lamps where like tho i think i would have liked the money lol...

Other prizes handed out are the likes of socket sets and a tea pots etc most prizes are only good for a car boot sale.. lol

OK not all the time are the prizes like that, some weeks there is golf stuff to be had. I won a nice jumper there few months back..

But anyways just wondering what the prizes are like in your local clubs compared to mine.

cheers hendy

At our old club most of the prizes were some form of crystal (medals, club champ etc) and for the likes of Captain's day they often had weekends away or personalised club watches etc. Some nice prizes to be had. For smaller prizes usually consisted of balls, wine etc..
At my new club not sure yet as only been there a very short while but you never know may take something home before the end of the year

Other than the big events that have cups etc, prizes are always £35 for a win, £20 for second and £15 for third in pro shop vouchers. Captains Day comps are a bit different as the captain provides prizes etc and are normally golf related. Also have 2's prize on every comp where everyone puts in a pound and the pot is split between everyone who gets a 2 on their round. This normally nets £5 to £10 per person who wins.

At my old club it was a medal and vouchers unless it was Captain's Day. I won it twice and got a crystal decanter and 4 whisky glasses first time and a lovely crystal rose bowl 2nd time.
Havn't entered any comps at my new club yet so I havn't won one so I don't know...

When I was younger and my parents used to play every week there used to actually be a medal for the winner of the monthly medal as well as vouchers. Does anyone's club still do this as I think it is a nice touch to actually win something that you can keep

Usually vouchers for the pro shop calculated dependant on the field size. Medal winner and cup winners get something on Presentation Night, usually a small medal in a box (for medal winners naturally) and trophy winners normally get replicas or small trophies, crystal etc.

Captains day and members/guest day is normally different and the prizes are usually a carry bag, jumpers, balls, down to booze.

Mostly vouchers at our club, but on Captains and Presidents days the prizes are whatever the 2 guys in question feel like.
The vouchers we get can be used at some of the high street shops, not just our Pro shop, well some used to take them.

On the 2 big days of the year Cap's and Pres's Day I think the prizes should be golf related. I got best gross last Presidents day, it was a painting, wooo hooo I hear you gasp, I havent seen it since. I'd of thought more of a dozen prov's

I think monthly competitions carry small voucher in pro shop. Other competitions involve trophies and replicas of these are handed out on Presentation Night. This costs the committee a lot of money - so prizes are often debated. Out of interest, how much are the entry fees for competitions - ours are generally £2.

Ours are £2 inc 50p sweep for general weekend comps and midweek stableford, the captains & vice day is about a £5.50 each but with a presentation in the evening.
