With all the talk of the current opportunities and Mike's post about how they make the selections, I realised that it's a year since my Cleveland fitting, courtesy of GM and Cleveland/Srixon, so thought I'd give a brief overview of the last year using the kit...

I was fitted for a combo set of clubs, 6 - PW in 588 MT and 4-5 in the Altitude (not everyone's cup of tea, but they bloody work, thats for sure).

I started last year with a handicap of 18, and by the fitting in February, I was on 17. I received the clubs at the back end of February and started using them immediately. I took a month off in August and drove round the USA on a road trip so didnt enter a huge amount of competitions (incidentally I did purchase a 56* wedge in Chicago and packet of refurbishd balls and hit a ball in every single state I visited (18 in total), and have photo's and videos of every shot). This wedge is now in my bag and a permanent reminder of my trip.

Anyway, back to the point. I got on with my new clubs instantly, they really helped my game, I didnt realise that having them bent 2* flat would have such an impact. After coming back in September I started entering a few more competitions and it didnt take me long to start scoring lower than my handicap and by October/November, I shot my lowest ever score, 72, with 4 birdies on the back 9! My handicap has come down to 13 (12.7) now, which I have to say is largely based on the confidence I have with the clubs. They are pretty awesome clubs, so easy to hit and unless i completely duff one, pretty forgiving. The hybrid like 4 & 5 irons go for miles! and I have no issues hitting the 4 iron from either the deck or tee.

All in all, I am extremely grateful to both GM and Cleveland for the opportunity and am confident that the clubs will be in my bag for a good few years to come. A big thanks to both parties!

Would I consider Cleveland again, whenever I am ready to change? Absolutely, they are fantastic clubs. I firmly believe that if more people tried them, more people would buy them!

So, in summary, a great day out, a fantastic oppoprtunity and great clubs which have helped me reduce my handicap by 4-5 shots.

Cleveland, they're the future ;)

Great write up Jez - glad to hear they appear to have worked really well for you. These GM opportunities sound fantastic!

I treated myself to a set of 588MTs, and while I think I was slightly shoehorned into them by the AG salesman at the time I bought them, I've never regretted it - a great feel to them and I've loved gaming with them. Haven't seen too many sets on the course, which is a shame, as they feel like a quality bit of kit. Have also heard the Altitude set is brilliant, and no doubt a fitter would have probably recommended me a similar set up to yours, but as the MT 4 iron seems to work for me I don't feel like I've missed out.

Thanks, and yes, they really do. So happy with them. I think they gave me the combo set during the fitting because the other 2 had straight sets (one of the altitude and other full TT) and they wanted someone to show the diversity by having a cross combo set. No objetions here at all, they are great clubs, and probably use the 4 iron more than i would if it was just the MT model (i think).
Glad you are also enjoying them.

Good to see you achieved success. I'm sure the Fitting and the Cleveland clubs contributed a lot to it.

The Altitude are certainly fugly and would not be my choice. But you are not the first to say 'they just <..> work'!

Apparently, it's possible to make your up own set from within the 588 range, so a Combo set seems a great idea!

Good write up mate.

Don't know if I should put this up really but hey we're not a communist state - Unfortunately I never quite settled in with mine (I got the TT version), it happens! Had a great day out, the fitting process was really interesting and gave me some good insight but blades just suit my eye better.

Would I consider Cleveland again in the future? Without a doubt, but they'd have to start making butter knives again!
