You know I am in town this weekend and I am going to buy one of these double edged chippers and test it out, then I can give it to my step son as one of his birthday presents!!! Yorkshire man always ;)

at the time I bought my chipper, I had thought to buy the double-faced one as it also gave you a left-handed club. I was told at the time (erroneously?) that it would count as two clubs in the bag.

These things should be banned. Chipping is as much part of the game as driving down the middle or nailing a long iron. My short game is my best suit because I have practiced it, it winds me up when someone with one of these things keeps "chipping" it close. If you can't drive well you work on it, if you can't play bunker shots well, you work on it. But if you can't chip well just buy a cheat stick. It's not in the spirit of the game if you ask me.

Rant over.

So, Wildrover, you don't use a 460cc driver, a hybrid, steel (or graphite) shafts, 3 peice golf balls, hybrids, mallets, belly (or broom), cavity backs either I assume?

ITS JUST NOT GOLF!!!!

Well crazy golf maybe! :D

TBH i always thought of these clubs as your Donny special, 2 times a year, plays off 12, best real score 112 and gives himself a 4ft putt 'for par' kinda persons club.

Though I may be wrong!

You've got a ver narrow view of some peoples golfing ability ! ;)

By the way the 112 didn't include fresh air shots at 3rd and 16 tees!

I dont like chippers, they dont really help anyone become a better 'chipper' with any other club in my view so in effect you are stuck with a club for chipping that should be illegal in a comp.

In response to the comments about hybrids, 460cc drivers and cavity backs, yes they all make the game easier and make it easier to get the ball to go where you want it to go. The fundamental difference over a chipper being that the basic swing you put on the ball doesn't change. You can't hit a drive/hybrid/iron shot with a putting motion because you find the normal swing too hard. I know that you can play a hybrid etc from just off the green like a putt but that is done by adapting the club to a different role, not buying a club to cover a gaping hole in your game.
