Just been reading what seems to be a new theory in golf, which when I first started to read it I thought "here we go again, another person jumping on the "golfers will try anything to improve" train.
However It seems to make a lot of sense, especially the straight spine thing.
What do you think?

It's not a new thing.

About 10 years back Jamie Zimron, an aikido teacher, who happened to be a pro lady golfer set up KIAI Golf ( http://www.golfblogger.co.uk/post/jamie-...hern-california )( http://www.aikidojournal.com/article?articleID=494 )( http://centeredgolfing.com/ ) to teach golf based on these principles.

I study aikido myself, a Japanese martial art, and have been doing so for about 18 years. The Japanese principle of Ki is the same as the Chinese chi. At a basic level it all focuses around breathing, relaxing and centering the body. The practice of movement, locks and throws as a self defence are a byproduct and a means to develop the other principles. These principles can be applied to many aspects of life , including other sports such as golf, baseball and tennis. I think you'll find a lot of golf pro's will teach the same principles, but maybe call them what they are known as, breathing, centering, focus, relaxation. :) Golf also shares many of it's swing principles and mechanics with the Aikido weapons work (sword and jo) - the body can only move in so many ways.

They are American, and their websites and videos may seem a bit gimicky to us, they are selling a business after all. I'm sure she's going to come in for a bit of stick from many of you (she did from the aikido world too when she started up) :D. I'm also not for one minute suggesting you all run out and join aikido or tai chi classes, but, the principles and ideas are sound, and do have a value in your golf practice.

Couldn't find any info about the actual swing on the site at all.... and what I did see looked like rubbish.

Not that inspiring. I'm going to a sports psychologist later in the year as part of my blog who has worked with some tour players and good amateurs. I think I'm going to force him to work really hard but we'll see what, if anything, he can do for me

I bet he tells you to put your pants on your head, a pencil up each nostril and keep saying 'Wibble' :D ;)
