I am a member of a municipal golf club ..the catering manager happens to be our club chairman.....who as an influence on monthly committee meetings ,i feel there is a conflict of interest in this situation,is there anything in the constitution rules that permits this or as anyone had experiences of this situation please?our AGM is coming up and i have a few delicate questions re monies spent towards the catering side...HELP as i will feel compramised asking the chair these questions...

you'll have to read your own constitution, there is no standard one.
In most committee run bodies it would normally be expected that the chair hand over to his deputy (and not vote) in any issue in which he has an 'interest'.

It would be unlikely though that the Chairman (assuming they are a paid up member of the club) could be asked to leave the meeting.

I would prepare for the meeting on the basis that you will have to ask the questions to his face.

And, ultimately, why not?

If you have legitimate concerns that are respectfully raised, there should be no problem with your questions being answered.
