Celebs who’ve passed

As the democratic senator and his family in Minnesota shot by a republican.
Their politics is irrelevant. It's the ease of which firearms can be bought and the access to which is the issue

Charlie Kirk’s ‘thing’ was in trying to talk, debate, meet with in person and discuss those with which had opposing, or different views from. Which clearly, has the effect of humanising the debate and your debating partner

Rather than rely on online / in-person echo-chambers and in never hearing, knowing, or coming to engage with those people who hold different views

It is through his public openness to debate / discuss RATHER than resort to online insults, abuse and violence, AND then to be murdered because of what he was saying and when he was talking, I think is the salient point — not so much gun ownership

Folk should watch his videos and see the "educated and measured responses" he often got from his audience.

Toddler supermarket meltdown, comes to mind.
When you choose to debate with snowflakes living in cloud cuckoo land, it's easy to sound like the one being reasonable. The extreme aspects of one's position sort of get buried under the even more extreme opposing views of the other side.

It does seem ironic that someone so fervently against gun control got shot by one of the nutters whose rights he was trying to protect.

Terrible take on it, shame on you.

His outlook and logic on gun control was like saying you don't ban all cars just because thousands of people die in car crashes each year. The deaths are tragic but the positive outweighs the negative.

A gun has never killed anyone by itself either. Those nutters who do these things would simply find another means.

Such a sad loss of life - a young man, father, loving husband and potentially a great political voice for many many years.

But what saddens me more, the disgusting showing of glee in his death from those people who didn't share his views. The planet is full of utter scumbags.

The views on him highlight the current situation in many areas , I don’t sit where he saw the world and he said a lot of unpleasant things both about the US , the UK and many other countries around the world

It was his right to speak those views but they were divisive and contained a lot of hate

He came across as a more educated Yaxley Lennon

No one knows why someone decided to shoot him and right now all the sympathy is with his poor family who have lost a father and husband

But both sides will be using this for their own gain and it just highlights the cesspit that some sit in

Its a shame that the focus is on him as opposed to more kids that lost their lives in school shootings over the last week

I always like Rob Delaney's Tweet :-

"Guns don’t kill people. People who say “Guns don’t kill people” kill people. With guns."

Exactly, if you think it’s ok to shoot someone because you disagree with them, you are part of the problem.

Remove the gun and you go a long way to removing the chance to kill

People in a car do have the ability to cause serious harm but 99% of the time it’s accidental

99% someone shot is on purpose

You're reading things into my post that I didn't say.
You have no idea what my opinion is on gun control.
All I did was point out the irony of being murdered by the very means he so staunchly supported.
If some nutter had found another means of murdering him, it would be no less reprehensible, but it wouldn't have been ironic.

Plus...a car isn't designed to kill people.
Neither is a hammer or a kitchen knife.
A gun only has one purpose...to kill.

I saw him as a possible future president, what a terrible loss.

You do realise that there are more guns circulating in America than there are Americans.
You can shut the stable door, but the horse has already bolted.

No-one is suggesting they take away everyones guns, just the ones that are designed to kill people en masse like they did before

It woold be a very long process but everyone with a registered hand gun or assault rifle is required to hand them in , anyone in the city with a registered gun is required to hand them in

The only people that need a air rifle or shotgun are farmers who are required to use them to protect their flock

Really?
I've followed Charlie Kirk for a while and can't recall him saying lots of unpleasant things about the UK.
He was very fond of the UK.

Big issue with this would be how do you compensate people handing in Guns they’ve potentially paid thousands for.

It needs to happen , guns need to be removed from normal society. But people won’t part with them without recompense in this modern day whether that’s right or not it’s the modern world and nobody will want to be out of pocket for handing over something they value.

And there's the crux.
America wants to but America doesn't want to.
