Can you have a hit first thing in the morning then play a competition in the afternoon, was going to go for 10 holes then home (7 hours between tee times)
It’s something that I should probably know but don’t ?

Depends on the format. Ok for Matchplay; Not allowed for Strokeplay. Rule 5.
Often frowned upon even for Matchplay though.

You can play a different course, but practicing on the competition course will raise a few eyebrows at a minimum, don’t go there is my advice
I'm assuming you mean playing from different tees. But if you are hitting balls on the same ground you are practicing on the course.

Indeed it would, as it is against the rules. Just like my eyebrows would be raised if I saw someone chucking their ball out of the rough when they thought no-one was looking :)
