Didn't get watching the golf last night as it started too late.
Wondering how they still had 2 holes to play when play was suspended but everyone else had finished??
Seems a little bit ridiculous. Especially as one of the holes still to play is a Par5....

Maybe Casey refused to play on and the groups ahead did?

i did see Casey wait an age for a ruling on the 7th as his ball wouldnt rest where his marker was on the green. that wouldnt have helped

I'm not sure of the distribution of the amateurs amongst the later group's, but they certainly had one (they were leading that event), and he was actively involved in scoring on most holes as well.
On the other hand many of the other groups ahead of them were 2 balls, and once they saw that they could finish they played a lot faster than normal!
The delay on the 7th green was covered off by the end of the 8th ie it didn't put them out of position at all. They were waiting on most shots for subsequent holes - until the field accelerated to finish and go home!

Took them 5 hrs to play 15 holes as a 2 ball plus one amateur yet not a chance of putting them on the clock it seems zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

and finished more than 2 holes behind, that makes it even worse doesnt it!
I think you are missing a whole load of information!

1. They didn't finish
2. At the point that they entered into the final discussion with the official there were 4 groups on the course - while those discussions were going on the pair on the par 3 17th moved to the 18th tee; but Casey had already decided he wasn't going any further (don't blame him).
3. The other groups were intent on finishing and did so (long after the last group had stopped.

So no; doesn't make it anything, and certainly not worse than anything.

I believe Casey's view was the lack of light before they'd finiish.

In fairness to them, they were due to play at 9pm (UK time) off the 1st tee.

However there were already groups at the green (2 guys in greenside bunkers) and a group in the fairway. So they had to wait close to 10 minutes before even hitting tee shots.

But yes - play remains slow and if anything it's getting worse - especially at this event where they have the amateurs playing. Personally think it is fair enough to have the Pro-Am event Thursday to Saturday and leave the pros to it on the Sunday.
Does seem a bit daft having Paul Casey playing for a million dollars and having to play alongside a handicap golfer.

Completely appreciate the need for this event as a one off and have all the CEOs of the big sponsors, as well as a few celebs to try and bring some other interest into it. But we can see enough of that over 3 days.

Also, credit to Paul Casey for not bowing to pressure and playing on in the darkness.

Casey does have an outside chance of winning and obviously a very good chance to finish 2nd, which is worth a lot compared with T2 or 3rd.

Phil obviously was happy to play 17 quickly and then hit an iron off 18, which would have meant he could have finished that hole and posted his score, even if Casey didn't hit a shot down 18.

Wa listening to the pre golf commentary in PGA tour radio on my drive up to work last night and they were saying that pace of play at this event is regularly 5hrs+ due to the confusing set up.

I don't blame Casey for not wanting to play on and whilst I agree slow play is an issue I think using this event as a yard stick for it is a bad idea

Well that's it done then, big Phil wins and Casey comes 2nd again..

To be fair he shot and under par round for his final round and Phil shoots - 7, can't argue with that.

I can't help feeling that Casey is very comfortable finishing 2nd or 3rd. Much like Garcia of a few years ago. There is a contentedness.

-1 is one of the poorer rounds out there yesterday. And at a Pro Am, when the course is not set up too tough, it's probably the equivalent of shooting 2 or 3 over. Especially as he played 2 and a quarter holes today with the tournament effectively done. And still missed a putt at 17 to put any kind of pressure on Phil, which would have given Casey the honour down 18 and probably would have meant Phil hitting Driver (had Casey laced a Drive ahead of him).

I don't think Casey has ever won an event when having a final round lead, I may be wrong on that I just can't ever remember it..

He's made a career of top 10s without ever really converting, I like him but he has imo under achieved.

One point to add was put forward by the commentators.

Casey and his amateur partner were leading the pro/am part of the event by a single shot so he did not only have to think of himself but the am player as well. The birdie secured on the 18th secured the win , had they played on in the dark they could have lost.
