LV renewal = 365
Flow (Part of LV) = 278 (- 45 cashback)

Difficult decision.
Multicar also seems redundant given we can both get cashback if we buy separately

Had my renewal through today. Has gone up from £157 to £203 with Tesco. Went onto comparison sites and the cheapest any of them could offer was £212. Went on to the Tesco site and got a quote for a new policy for £192. After a reduction in price two years ago and an increase of only a few pounds last year I was expecting a rise this year.

Mine has gone up from £295 to £440!!!

Tomorrow will be a day of wringing a Meerkats neck to get a better deal.

I've given up trying to understand car insurance

My Corsa went up. Fair enough.. they come up with reasons . Whatever

But I replaced it with a Kia (more expensive, bigger battery) the price dropped by £65

Then I replaced a massive powerful seat with a Kona EV and it went up £20

It's all just how much can we make up and charge you

We are with Admiral, multicar with three cars. Two of the cars are insured for both of us. Last year we were £1500, which includes one of those three being modified.

We're about to come up to renewal so will be interesting to see if we need to split these up.
We have had our Admiral multicar (cars x3) plus house insurance renewal…up from £1882 to £2453 (£2k for cars). £570 increase.

Do I look to split off house? Do I split cars - maybe take off the one I insure for our 31yr old son (the most expensive). Maybe £150 increase/car for each car isn’t that out of the ordinary.

Anyway…will be on the phone to them later…

I never did update this. Ours came through at £1860. So I phoned them and did the merry dance and they could reduce it to £1700 (so still up £200) obviously I asked them why they didn't just offer that as a renewal rather than try to squeeze the price.

Then I had a thought... Two of the three cars, at the time were 2 years old and one 4 years old. So I asked what the values they had against each car. They had the market value against each car being new, clearly they are not worth that now and the insurer will only ever pay current market value. So I asked him to adjust each car to the current market value.

Then I asked about annual mileage. The modded 3er and the 8er were still showing as 10k each, lucky if I do 10k combined in them. So 3er was adjusted to 4k and the 8er to 6k. Kept HIDs at 10k.

Once they crunched all that... New renewal, £1480!

I genuinely didn't think any of those factors mattered, but clearly they do (especially the value part, and well why not, there is a huge difference between replacing a brand new 8 series at £80k with a 2 year old one that's only worth £50ish). So it pays to check all of the details that they hold are accurate.

Just had mine through ( I was a bit prepared from all the stuff I had seen online) it has doubled just over £400 to over £800.

Went to the usual comparison sites and most quotes were £1k with even bigger XSs

After a long phone call with Admiral they were able to reduce their 3 car plus home insurance quite by £210, to a place still painful but a bit easier. I then asked for our son to be split out and identified as the policyholder for the car (of mine) that he drives. Unfortunately as this was his first insurance as policyholder, his lack of much in the way of a No Claims Discount then added £400 to premium. I paid it.

Maybe I could have gone elsewhere, but given insurers can’t give ‘golden hellos’ to new customers I frankly couldn’t be bothered. If that thinking has cost me £££s then I am happy to have it sorted and peace of mind for the cost.

Just had my renewal come through and was expecting it to be horrific, given everything I have seen and heard.

Last year £488. This year? £480. Go figure.

Going on a golf trip to Scotland (from southern England), using my car, so we decided to get a mate added so I don‘t have to do all the driving. I knew there was an automatic £15.00 admin fee levied for any change - so was surprised when the actual quote - including admin charge - was £15.02
