Can you profit from cheating?

Totally understand the concept and its for charity but to me this ain't golf and I'd rather play in the conventional manner and make donations, maybe a charity auction or via raffle tickets.

You are correct - it isn't golf as we know it -but the junior section doesn't have the clout to arrange decent auction / raffle prizes but this event they can put together and if they can raise a few quid for charity whilst giving the adult members a bit of a laugh then I think it is a good thing.

Having said that, I think it is probably going too far to be able to penalise your opposition (much fun though it may be) but I will feed in the ideas so far - I think they may have a winner on their hands.

Have you considered a strings match. If you haven't heard of it, each player is allocated a length of string according to their handicap, they can then use a length of the string instead of a shot, you cut that length off and once the string is gone you play your normal game. You could charge per foot of string.

Sounds like really good fun, hope its a huge success

(Its still The Game of Golf, not The lifeordeathmustputtoutneedhandicapreductionyoucantdothat of Golf)

You still hit a ball with golf clubs into a hole = golf.

People get a bit sick of charity auctions or raffles because they have to find prizes etc.

This is a fun idea with a bit of fun format yet some act like the Grinch "because it's not golf"

I'm guessing yellowsomes will be outlawed next.

Just because it isn't my cup of tea doesn't make it wrong or my and others that have agreed a Grinch. Just we have different views on how we'd prefer to play the game and support a charity event. As it goes, our club has an annual strings event which I play in so don't be so quick to judge!

Brilliant idea. Love the "reverse mulligan" idea. Just seeing the look on a playing partners face as you chuck him another ball after a brilliant shot and say "here you go, do that again" LMFAO worth a quid no problem!!!

Could you pay to stamp a FCs ball into the turf :)

We are talkng real life versionb of The Really Nasty Golf Game - a brill little board game

I'd add suggestions such as for whichever of your PPs you chose - you pay to determine their club selection for the shot they are about to play. So I say to an FC with a tight lob shot across a greenside bunker. "My £5 in the pot if you use a 3i and get it on the green; £3 if you use a 5i; £1 if you use a 7i" for example

When the course was pretty much empty at my old club we used to put these in to play in my regular 'friendly' 4 ball every now and again. Bounce game, better ball matchplay so no harm done and used to liven things up a bit.
