Like any golf clubs, it’s about whether it works for you, not some person on the internet.
I agree. But at a quick scan, when so many of the youtubers are sounding the alarm bells, you wonder if Callaway have a real stinker of SLDR proportions here ? I will wait until there are more out and some of them will do their best of 2025 or group tests. Maybe it will come out better than they are indicating in isolation.

When I got fitted for my g430 LST I also tried all the top offerings from Titleist, Callaway & TM.
I expected to get the original Paradym as I was coming from a Mavrik and an Epic before that.
But, the Ping was the best.
Internet reviews didn’t come into it.

BTW, I like Michael Newton’s reviews the best.

Never, ever judge a club by the title of a YouTube video.....and even watching it will only give you an idea as the reviewers only hit half a dozen shots, generally don't go into the data further than launch, spin and distance and rarely tell you which ball they use...
You have to try them yourself if you're in the market. Don't dismiss any club unless you've hit it yourself.
Relying on a Pro with a swing speed 20+mph faster than yours is a recipe for disaster

this is the bit I find a bit naughty. How many actual shots did/ do they actually hit and do they showed you the shots that are nobbed. I once watched a video of a YouTuber chipping with a hybrid club. He holed two on the spin. At the end of the video it showed you 20 shots that went everywhere. Bottom line you don’t get 20 practice shots when chipping.

You can see the shot number on the screen if they are using Trackman/GC Quad, note the number on the first shot and then keep an eye on every shot.

There's probably already a YouTuber that does it but we'd (or me) learn more from a mid to high handicapper reviewing clubs. You single figures players and Pros are playing a different game to me, off 18.

Why’s that then?
A forged iron feels different to a cast head so it is possible that the feel off one driver could be different to another. 🤔
Some people say it is the feel of the ball, some say you can’t feel the ball and you are actually judging the sound. I am in the sound camp as I believe that you cannot feel any difference on a putt due to the lack of effort and the shaft and grip taking any feel out of it.

I've got a LAB putter (DF2.1) it is one of the worst feeling putters I've ever used....quite tinny....not quite as bad as an old Nike Blue Chip Oz that I once owned. Obviously the DF2.1 is an old model and work may have been done to improve the feel in more recent releases.

Yes sound is a key component of the perception of feel but it is possible to discern the differences between balls even if you take the sound aspect out of the equation....stick some headphones on playing some Motorhead and grab a sample of balls across the hardness spectrum and have a putt...I bet that you can tell a soft ball from a hard one.

Back to the original content of the thread...

I do think it is somewhat disingenuous of these you tube reviewers, who rely on "clicks" to generate revenue, to promote their reviews with misleading and controversial titles, that are totally at odds with the review content. You only have to read this thread to see that there are folks who don't watch the video and are happy to accept the title as an accurate reflection of the reviewers conclusions. If I was a manufacturer I would be concerned at the antics of these reviewers, who value click generation over a balanced presentation of their views of the product.

I still can't understand people who dismiss a club on looks. It should be the last reason on the list, probably shouldn't even be on the list.

Thats a fair point. Plus, with fitting such a crucial element, how many of these testers are fitted for the driver they are reviewing. On the other hand, they do get to hit loads of shots with every club out there, way more than the rest of us can, so their opinion of one versus another must count for something.

Average Golfer is not a pro, and looks like a 10 or so, so much closer to the average. He is flagging not only a question of suitability with the Elyte, but that it has a major issue. How Good Golf saying outright that there is something majorly wrong with the Elyte, so a lot of strong condemnations of it out there. But as above, it may suit some, but safer to compare with some of the others before going for it. On this basis, simply buying it at the moment would look silly and risk being left with one that would loose a chunk even if trying to trade it it later.

What major issue did Average Golfer highlight?

I've watched the video...the only thing Average Golfer says about it is that he is disappointed with the ball speed and doesnt like the appearance of the sole.

How Good Golf seems concerned about how to pronounce Elyte, likes the colour scheme on the sole, states that the triple diamond has a different depth face without saying whether it is good or bad. His only real concern is the physical shape of the club head (especially the Max version) and worries that this will put current Callaway fans off (but at he same time, says it might attract folk who dont play Callaway). He also doesn't like the transition between the crown and the leading edge. He is particularly impressed with the consistent spin rates delivered by the 3 versions of the club and overall says the clubs are really impressive.

At no time does he say there is anything majorly wrong with the Elyte.

For drivers I hear you - although what the top of the crown looks like is probably more important than what the sole looks like, since you'll see that part at address.
