Good Evening Gentlemen,
Just in from a very enjoyable round this afternoon, except for the first time I used my 7 iron the shaft broke, only three weeks old and the shaft snapped. Genuine clubs bought from a high st shop, should it be a warranty job or is it down to me? None of my clubs have hit anything except balls, and divots.

It broke half way up, but folded forward, as I finished the swing, so I cant really see how its down to me but I dont want to make the same mistake again.

Walk into the shot with a patch over your eye and tell them it happend at the end of your swing... that will teach them to sell you a dodgy set

I have had shafts break in the past but they were always on clubs that I had used for a number of years and often.

The only exception was a wedge that I had for 3 months and a small tree got in the way of a pitch out of the trees.

There was obviously a fault with the shaft.

sure there wasnt a dent in the shaft b4 u got them?
did u check them over thoroughly?

really doesnt take much to ruin the structural integrity and strength of a shaft

we had a guy come in a day or 2 after buying his new set and brought us them back to the proshop and told us one had broke 1st time out

which it had , we looked at a cpl of other and they had small dent in too

his, (we later found out) had been pinched as he shut the boot on his car (so his friend said)dont ask me how
his set got sent back and new shafts put in the affected clubs FOC;

but damage can happen many ways:

ive seen guys take little swings in the shop and hit the shaft of another club with the one hes swinging

and absolutely anything can happen in transit to the shop

friend of mine hit his trolley wheel next shot snapped

they should swap it over no problem or at least repair it

was it a cleanish snap or had both ends pinched in?

if the latter then id say it had a ding in b4 the swing that snapped it

No it folded in on itself on the front edge, from the angle it went at it looks like it actually snapped when the club was horizontal after the impact. The club has been used for my driving range nights (150 balls total and 3 rounds so probably another 30 shots) always been stored in my bag and no impacts etc. I will be honest I never thought to heck the clubs when I bought them, I was so excited to get them. I will check the rest.

this seems to be a common fault as the same happened with my previous set of clubs. do the shaft manufacturers not understand our need of shaft that will bring down trees?
