Bridgestone Balls

Has any one got on an opinion on the BStone RX vs RXS ? I used the RX for the first time yesterday and thought it was good but perhaps did not have that drop and stop performance I wanted on the short irons and struggled with check on the chips. Will the RXS address these issues?

the difference between these two balls is the cover. on the S it is extremely soft.

the playing difference is that the S provides more spin, the non-S will provide slightly more distance because it spins less. the underlying ball constructions and dimples are the same. I haven't cut the two up on the band saw to make a comparison but I would bet that the actual difference is achieved by simply having a marginally thicker cover on the S.

as to your final Q - theoretically yes.

thank you .. I will give a sleeve a roll out next week

I started using the e6 about a month ago and love them.
My wayward drives have reduced and my chipping and putting are now unrecognisable from
a couple of months ago.
I just feel the ball feels softer of all clubs and the more I play with this ball the more confidant
I am about the result I get when I hit the ball.

I bought a dozen 2012 E5's and E6's. Really impressed with them so far. E6's feel good around the green, but can scuff up easily if your wedge has new grooves. They may well reduce spin, but I've still managed to pull off some slices, albeit they are less severe. That could be me though as I've altered my stance slightly.

E5's give good distance and feel nice and positive off the club face. Generally knowing they're a decent ball, and brand new that adds a dash of confidence.

As a reference point, I was using mixed lake balls (Pearl A grade), and some new Pinnacle's. I decided to try out other makes to get some sort of consistency. Ball choice had to be based on feel, durability and price. At my level there is no point throwing £40 worth of Pro-V's in to the cabbage, but a dozen Bridgestone E5's can be had for anywhere from £10 (2012 model) and upwards. This gives me a decent quality ball, at a respectable price.
If/when I think I've got enough consistency to make a decent judgement I'll grab a few sleeves of other makes, including Pro-V's and compare them in my game.
