Specifically the e5 and e6 models.

Do we have any user experiences with either of these models? If so, would you care to share your thoughts on them?

I'm looking to, possibly make a move away from the Pro V1 as a) I don't feel I get the best out of the ball at my level of play and b)Looking for a cheaper ball option.

I don't lose many balls to be honest but with financial things changing at home I'm looking for an alternative.

Any thoughts, as always, appreciated

Bridgestone say the E6 will help straighten you errant hooks and slices, tosh, if you a can bend a ball through a bad shot, then the ball will head toward the cabbage regardless of what Bridgestone say.

That said the E6 as I've used are okay, you get a nice feel of the club face, reasonable distance and reasonable stopping on the green but both are neither jaw dropping.

I bought 2 dozen only because you got a free baseball cap with them and I need some balls and a new cap, but once they are gone I'll not be replacing them. I'll go back to using the Srixon AD333.

The AD333 the feel is similar to the E6, but I find I can get the AD333 to stop quicker on the green.

I got given a box of e6 yellow and use them over the winter on grey days. I think its an ok ball, always feels nice to hit esp with irons and even feels soft off the driver. I couldn't tell you about stopping power as the last time i used on out greens were like wet cardboard. i doubt i would move away from a prov 1 esp as i've hundreds of the tings sitting about.

I bought 2 dozen of the 2012 E6's on Sunday for 20 smackers at AG, pretty much for the same reasons as Khamelion. I haven't had a chance to hit them yet, but when I do (on Saturday, if not before) I'll post up my thoughts.

E5 is what you want. It has a urethane cover and was recently tested by a magazine to spin close to the premium ball offerings on wedge shots, using an iron Byron.
Great ball at a great price.
E6 has a surlyn cover and isn't even in the same ball park. It's just a middle of the road distance ball.

Alex has just switched to the E5, no doubt he'll be a long at some point soon

Yeppers, I am enjoying the e5 and will be using it all year. £12 a box, you cant even get AD333 for that money. Last year I used the Titleist NXT Tour, I think that is a great ball but they are still £20+ a box and does not feel that soft round the greens.

The e5 is a cheap ball, its long and it has a soft cover, its the cheap man`s premium ball/clone. There are very few if any balls at this price point with such a good cover so if you want confidence around the greens, acceptable performance everywhere else then this is your ball. 4.5 stars.

I can verify many times that if you hit a slice, the E6 will not straighten it out. To be fair, I wasn't expecting it to, but I have found that (in my head at least) when I hit a good shot, it is a lot straighter than before, it has almost removed much of the slight fade/draw that would naturally occur.

I tried a set of E6 last year. All I can say is that I lost the full set quicker than I've lost any others. Now using AD333's and they've lasted much longer. As others have said, if it's gunna go right or left I don't believe a ball will stop it.

Just try a set for yourself.

If I was to change to a cheaper ball I would have a look at the Srixon Soft feel.

I some times go around our 9 hole course using 5 diff makes of ball and the last few times I’ve noticed that the soft feel goes further and stops as well as premium ball, the only down side is it has green writing on it and we don’t do Green in our house for obvious reasons.;)

Should've added as well, the E6 seems to scuff up really quickly, even getting it to land on the short stuff for a round, it seems to mark really easily.

I've played the last 20 or so rounds with the E5 ball. It's a decent ball but lacks any real stopping power onto summer greens. Looks likely that I'll be changing up to the 330-s ball.

Thanks for the replies so far

I'm off for 18 holes tomorrow night after work and will be taking an e5 a long with my stock Pro V1 and trial them side by side.

I'm in no real rush to make a decision as I still have 18 (of 48) pearl Pro V's I brought off eBay at the start of last year and have 6 dozen brand new, still in the box, waiting to be used.

I suppose I could sell them to fund the change, but that's if I like the Bridgestone when compared directly to the Titleist.

I got a box of pretty much every Bridgestone balls on the market through the Xmas period and if I'm honest, there is very little difference in any if them aside from the e5 is softer feeling compared to the likes of the b330's which in my opinion may aswell be painted white rocks. If you're after a cheaper ball that is decent off the tee and soft enough around the greens, I'd recommend the Wilson staff dx3 or dx2 or whatever they're called. Much cheaper than premiums and IMO a good all rounder.

Why not just use the 72 prov1 that you already have? A ball is just a ball. They are all pretty similar, and won't make much of a difference to handicapped golfers, in my view. 72 balls must be a good few years worth?

Another vote for the Wilson Dx3 Soft, which some AG stores are banging out for a tenner a dozen. I find these to be muh better than the AD333, and prefer them to the Bridgestone E series too. Trouble is, others love the AD333, so it will come down to personal choice (as with so much other equipment).

Exactly that Murph.

Over the whole of last season I lost the vast total of 20 balls. Admittedly I have lost a few recently with starting to have a few lessons and making changes. From January to now, I've lost another 11 leaving the 18 of the original 48 pearl Pro V's I had.

It'll take me a while, or at least, I hope it will, to get through them.

By my calculations, you've use 30 balls in 18 months (approx) and still have 90 balls left? You should be ok for 4 1/2 years !! :)

I have a lot of love for the Wilson DX3 great ball at great price. I have however just received a dozen B330RX and I love them can#t say I think they're like rocks at all. Great feel on approach shots and nice off the putter will be using those this summer and teh DX3 in winter
