Black Carbon Steel Wedges

I am in the market for a few wedges and have been looking at a few Nike models.

Being a product design student, I like to look into materials.

With these black carbon steel wedges, how does the finish keep in the long term?

I had the black satin black mpt10 wedges, they looked 2 or 3 years old after one round, would never buy colour wedges again

This is what crossed my mind. I have seen used ones on eBay and they look really shabby! May have to opt for the standard steel colour!

Don't get me wrong as a club they are great, but I take pride in how my clubs look and to look so old after for hours was a total let down

Been a few with issues with black faced clubs TM irons, and hybrid as well as above.
The black finish is great when new but does age very quickly.

I posted this picture on another thread a few days back.

This is my PW with a standard chrome/nickel/shiney finish.

Black, I would imagine is a lot less robust and would show marks quite a lot sooner.

Thank you guys. You have certainly all helped me confirm my fears of opting for black coloured wedges.

I am very much one for taking care of my clubs and love cleaning my irons with autosol, even after the range!

Does the finish really matter if the club performs the way you want it too?

I have Nike black wedges. The sticker on them says they will rust over time. Ok, but they rusted in front of my eyes over 4 hours round woodhall spa. Ok, conditions were shocking, but 4 hours? Flipping heck. From black to orange, 4 hours.

I'm not that fussed, but if you are? Don't do it. Buy chrome.

Good bit of advice! Just need to decide on my bounce options now!!
