Went for a round with Viscount17 at my club yesterday morning and had an unbelievable start to the round getting par on 7 out of the first 8 holes and teeing up on the 9th one over gross for the round. Then I managed to score an 8 on the par 4 9th and lose 2 balls off the tee on 13th. The rest of the back 9 was OK but so frustrating to get off to such a good start then to mess up to fairly simple holes, one of which I would normally par even on a bad day.

Still, managed to win 7&6 :) :) :) (Sorry Steve)

Hawkeye is your man for wheels, axle and exhausts falling off. Level par after 10 last week and then reality hit home. Me I prefer to get rid of all my shots by the turn. Who needs them!

At least it didn't disintegrate completely so I'd take the positives out fo the good start and try not to think too much about what might be score wise next time you are in a similar position

I was going to post this myself (well I've got broad shoulders).

It was like being run over by a train - with the exception of a few holes I didn't actually play that badly but by the time I got to grips with the greens - quick and lots of borrows, it was all over. Even when I made par, Greg would match it.

Watching a mate playing that well is almost as good as doing it yourself

Thanks for the reminder Homer :o

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Sorry mate but couldn't resist :o :D. At least you showed signs of recovery on the back nine yesterday. It has happened to me too many times to count. Going along serenely and thinking a good score is on the cards and then you play a real show stopper of a hole - car crash golf and it never seems to recover from there

Good to hear you got the go ahead for the invitation open. I will get the form in next week. Have to get you over for a few practice rounds before hand.

I may even give you a few shots next time ;) ;)

Four under after five. Playing off 24 with my playing partners looking at me like I am the biggest cheat in the world. And then crash. Finished about 25 over.

4 under par after 5 holes   and you wonder why he looked at you that way, dont know many (or any) single fig guys who've ever had a start like that

The whole thing was embarrassing. As great as it was being 4 under after 5, it was very uncomfortable as my playing partners thought I was completely taking the piss off 24. Then the wheels came off good and proper and that was embarrassing too as I suddenly lost the ability to hit a golf ball after an eagle and two birdies in the first four holes.
