Best shot youve ever seen...

Jack Nicklaus's putt on the 18th green in the final round of the 1977 Open at Turnberry. Nicklaus's 2nd shot on 18 was stunning but to then knock the putt in from about 9 miles away under that sort of pressure... Watson finished 65 + 65 at the weekend against Nicklaus's 65 + 66, and won by a shot. Watson 268(-12), Nicklaus 269(-11), Green 279(-1). A 10 shot gap... the best Open I've ever seen.

Seve's 3 wood out of the bunker on the 18th in the Ryder Cup in 1983. 240 yards with about 50 yards of slice to make the edge of the green. Gave him a half with Fuzzy Zoeller, when he looked certain to lose the match.

Can't believe there is no film of this shot. Jack Nicklaus said it was the greatest shot he had ever seen.

That must be the best shot no-one's seen, a bit like the Seve one in Crans when he knocked it over a wall, through the trees and onto the fringe....then promptly pitched in for birdie and the title

Think Seve lost in Crans to Barry Lane in a play off, but it was some shot. His caddie couldn't believe it when he took it on. I do find it strange that the Americans have not got film of Seves shot in the Ryder Cup. Not like it was a small comp ! It may be because they didn't like 'Steve':mmm:

Apparently PNWokingham's chip on the 18th at Blackmoor was pretty special... I was taking a poo at the time and the cheer rocked the bowl! ;)

The best shot I have witnessed, ( actually There, not on TV) was at the 2011 BMW PGA at Wentworth, last day, 18th hole

Shane Lowry's 2nd shot, went for it, beautiful shot, ended up about 6 ft from the hole, then holed the putt for an eagle 3,

Made the difference between being tied for 4th at £191000 or tied 13th at £69000

Fragger Was Here

How could I have forgotten that. The chip in, not the poo.

We were playing the 16th at the time. Couldn't work out at the time what was so exciting as we wandered down 18 until someone mentioned it. Didn't help my nerves trying to get out of the left hand trap in front of everyone and keep it on the green. Did that bit and then 3 stabbed

You were playing from right under a big crowd on the clubhouse balcony Martin. Not that any of us were so unkind as to hope you would thin it across the green and into the pit.

Of course. Thanks for reminding me. I saw it (the chip!!!!!) and now realise that Sandy's miraculous bunker shot at 18 to win the Masters in 1988 was merely the second greatest golf shot I have ever seen. :D;)
