So most of the top 100 courses are member/private courses, and those that aren't seem to be dismissed as the least popular (Grove, Brabazon).
But of the "resort courses" we've all played which are our favourites, which would you recommend and which would you advise people keep away from?

For me personally I'd say the Grove, followed by the Arden course and I quite enjoyed all of the Celtic Manor courses.
The worst in my opinion is probably the Aylesford course at the Forest of Arden

Really depends what you define as Resorts! Some/most are obvious, but would you include Woburn? Gleneagles? (Marriot) Dalmahoy? Or Wentworth?

For me it mean the stay & play, hotel & course, resorts.

Not exactly high end but I enjoy Forest Pines and Greetham Valley. Not a big fan of Belton Woods near me

The Roxburghe has always been a favorite of mine. However (unlike most on here), I also really enjoyed The Belfry, been several times now.

Forest of Arden was ok, but didn't hit the expectations I'd been given.

Wentworth then? It's a Resort and there is accommodation available.

Woburn hasn't got accommodation on-site, but certainly feels more like a Resort than a Club.

Gleneagles?! Stayed once, but I wasn't paying and would never considering 'Stay and Play' there (well not for more than a millisecond/in dreams!

Rules Wisley out too, though I'd never consider that a 'Resort'.

Gleneagles has to be up there as one of the best in terms of stay and play, it has one of the finest hotels in Britain with one of the UK's top chefs in Andrew Fairlie doing the grub. Then you have the courses, 2 crackers then the Ryder Cup course ;)

Loved the 2010 course. Probably my favourite course that I've played (not that many).
Haven't played the other 2 there.

St Pierre is decent.

Last year we booked the Vale, St Pierre and Bowood Cornwall.

The Vale was without any doubt the best, St Pierre was the best food, Bowood at £79, for 2 days golf BB and evening meal was the best value.

Next year we will do Bowood, The Vale, St Mellion + another

I like Forest Pines and indeed we are off there next year again for another golf weekend. But you have to be very careful over tee times as I've seen queues 20 deep on the 1st tee of one of the loops around late morning at the weekend. We always ask for the earliest tee times they have on the second morning, we've had some absolutely cracking rounds first thing at Forest Pines with a very empty course in front of us.

And if you are including courses that offer weekend deals including accommodation then Woodhall Spa all the way for me. Most disappointing has been The Arden courses. Big queues, not blown away at all by The Arden course, although we did play it in November. Also they had booked too many people on as we just got round before it got dark and there were a lot of very unhappy golfers behind us that did not. Also impressed with Carden Park for some reason, as both courses were good and it's not the case as you usually get where one course is good and the other is average.

I liked Carden, done a bit of work on them lately. Friends played it the other week and said it was in excellent condition.

Slaley Hall is a good, 2 equally good courses and hotel is decent too.

Enjoyed Portal, some cracking holes, again decent hotel.

Forest Pines - I can still hear the rattle of golf ball against trees. Every time I close my eyes............ The negative for me about FP is it is a tight course and on a trip away I like a little more freedom to open the shoulders.

Rockliffe, never stayed there as it's pretty much on my doorstep but you can get good weekend deals on a course that is always in amazing condition.
