We've got a team comp on Saturday: 4 players per team, best 2 nett scores at each hole count.

So, what do we need to score to win the darn thing ?

-10 ? -20 ???

Anyone played this format before ?

Isn't that an Am-Am? The winning score is usually five better than you think it will be!

It really depends on the course, the tees and the weather. I've seen anything from -6 to -26 win an Am-Am.

If it's a corporate/charity do, there'll normally be a few sombreros around too.

Format is usually stableford, so over 90 points, but if you're playing strokeply, then certainly 18 under if you're playing full handicap.

I played this the other day with 3 players per team with 3/4 HCap and the winning score was only 74. My guess would be 80 if you have a decent field and decent conditions.
Good Luck

I hope you don't end up like I did on a Corporate day at Foxhills in Surrey.
Didn't know anybody there (was invited by somebody but put into a different team).
Stableford competition, best three scores to count on each hole.
I was introduced to my "team" on the first tee.
First one had had to borrow a set of clubs from somebody as he had never played golf before and was "making the numbers up". He played in a leather bomber jacket.
Second one played off 28. Had only been playing about 3 or 4 months, didn't have a handicap but thought he'd play "for the crack"
3rd one also played off 28. He'd been playing a little while but in his words was "absolutely useless".
Boy, did I feel confident stood on the 1st tee...

I think something like 92 points won it, we came in with about 38 and I scored 34 of those.
Feck knows how many balls were lost in my group but it was like the red arrows off the tee

Played similar but with full handicap and had 84 points for second place. Won with 86 points.

In a fourball with full handicap must be looking at around 90 to win.

I'm sure we're playing this format for the GM day at Beau Desert on Thursday, so my answer is...... we'll let you know :)

Allowing for people not knowing the course I reckon the winning score on Thursday will be around 6 or 7 points below what yours will need to be.

It is full handicap allowance, medal score not stableford.

Some people play better on a strange course Gary.
I had 21 points on the front 9 at Beau when I played there the once ;)
But the back 9 wasn't quite so good

True, was just thinking the really good scores would most likely come from a local.

I vaguely remember being below handicap first time at Bearwood for about 13 holes until the wheels fell off

I'm gonna stab at 85 winning Thursday, and 92 in SS2's comp.

I reckon we'll need to play to 5 stableford pts per hole to have a chance. That would give us 90pts.

Our team handicaps are 3,9,11 and me off 14. Winning score will be published next week. Looking forward to it, sounds like a great format.
